Now that it is playing on Amazon Prime is there a better than average chance this finally gets a release Stateside from someone? It seems many that do hit Prime end up somewhere.

The studio listed on the Amazon Prime video is "Vista Corporation," which was producer Herb Jaffe's company.

So it looks like the US rights are with his estate or whomever purchased that company after his death?

Wow, that was quick! Glad I got to see it in HD, it wasn't bad (streaming can never compare, of course), but hopefully this means a Blu Ray is coming?

Does anybody know if the '84 Entertainment German release is legitimate obtained via rights? Or is it a high quality bootleg?

'84 Entertainment have no official website (or one that works), their Facebook page is a 'fan' account and they don't appear on the German registry as a registered business. I'm in Australia so I cannot see the European Amazon site and there doesn't appear to be any selling on eBay (which is strange for an alleged 'official' limited release).

My concern is that their Fright Night 2 Blu-ray releases are limited and look legitimate but there are a few inconsistencies (some of the special features seem a little incoherent) and it's highly bizarre that for years with no luck re: rights issues, a German company manages to succeed in obtaining the rights to a film that has been circulating successfully as a bootleg for years. Can anyone confirm if the release is official? Or is it a top quality bootleg? '84 Entertainment might very well obtain rights to films for Blu-ray release but it appears some of their releases (like this one) may be top notch bootlegs. Any help appreciated

Huh? Just type in amazon.de and have a look-see, it's not that hard.

Here is the direct link btw: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01H4R80G2/

My ISP has blocked this website but my phone allows access. That rectifies that problem.

If anybody has any information about the legitimacy of this '84 Entertainment release and whether or not film rights were legally acquired (or whether this is a top quality bootleg from a legitimate company) feel free to comment (this is part of a study). Thanks!

You may have better luck in responses if asking in the German thread for Fright Night Part II.

Shout now has rights to Vista company titles so most likely this year they might announce a CE BD

Would love to see this get a blu release but I might just settle for the HD bootleg. I have the old pan n scan DVD and the quality is horrid.

Something happened earlier this year, The Vista Org. did release an official HD version for streaming on Amazon, but it was taken down within of weeks, don't know if it was because Lionsgate was actively trying to retain the rights in the US or if Paramount owns the streaming rights since they own the TV rights or if a deal was being worked on with Shout!.

I do suspect Shout! will be releasing it this year (They did release Dudes (1988), a title from The Vista Org. catalog) or maybe Shout! is working on a two punch release with a super duper collector's edition of the original Fright Night, since they also have a deal with Sony. (Sony might be thinking of releasing an UHD of Fright Night, like they are doing with Christine)

I think that's the plan Scream has in mind to have Fright Night 1 & 2 CEs and i'm betting at the end of this month or early next month or at the comic con, they could be huge announcements.

Afterall this year is the 30th anniversary of 2.

This is excellent news!
It seemed nobody in the industry knew who owned the rights to FNII, which partially explains why the bootlegs were so rampant, I mean, the bootleg version is even cataloged and recognized as a release on this site.
TT's original Fright Night release was a game changer for me as a collector and I've been patiently awaiting the release of Part II ever since.
I've seen it on cable and the bootleg version, which is sourced from the same HD cable broadcast years ago.

It'd be great to see Shout! give them proper individual releases, however it'd be even better if they could package them together like Arrow did for House I & II.
It most likely won't be as attractively priced as Arrow's offerings, considering the House I & II set was available for less that $30 before being sold out. But if Shout! can keep it priced around $40 + all the pre-order supplemental incentives they typically offer when ordering directly through them, and I'd probably have to bite.
Okay... show me.
