Just compared this to an old hdtv cap and the bluray has what I would call horizontal inteference lines (maybe a form of interlace) in numerous places of the film. One scene where it stands out is where Corey Haim is being helped out of the car into his wheelchair and pushed into the house. The wood panelling on the house is covered in them. The hdtv does not have these. I also noticed these lines in What Lies Beneath Bluray but in that case were also present on both hdtv and web download versions. Strange.

I have a dozen or more Koch titles with far better transfers/compression than their Shout/Olive counterparts. They usually do a superb job with what they're handed.

Does anyone know what the Canadian release is?

Amazon.ca states that it is an import?

It's the Australian edition.

That appears to be the case, Bloody Disgusting also suggests it will but it won't be 100% confirmed until disc is out and checked.

Just got it in the mail finally, it actually shows as region B in the back so I have to assume itís region locked? This is indeed the Australian version

Stick it in and check. It wouldn't be the first time that a region free disc was sold that claimed it was region locked on the case.
Wish List: Blind Dead collection (Amando de Ossorio), After Hours (Scorsese), Living Dead collection (Romero), Braindead, Bad Taste (Peter Jackson), The Warriors Theatrical cut, Kolchak Collection, Hammer Dracula Collection, Silver Bullet (Stephen King)

Yes, whatever is printed on the cover or even the disc is hardly conclusive evidence of the disc's actual region setting.

I'm in the states, and just got mine in the mail. The Umbrella release is indeed region free. The quality is as good as it could be for this film, and the supplements are nice. It's safe to purchase for those not living in australia.

Thanks. Just got shipping confirmation from DeepDiscount that my order from a couple 15% off sales back has shipped - their site had it listed as region 0, which I was under the impression that all Umbrella BDs were not region coded. Can't wait to see this movie again - it's been MANY years.
"Always buy discs: the only movies you can truly (legally) own and depend on for generations. Digital can never and will never be more than an over-hyped rental format, because that's the only endgame Corporate Hollywood hopes to achieve: the complete elimination of legal consumer ownership and retail profit sharing of their properties."
