UUUGGGHHHH.

Because they're too lazy to reauthor their own Blu-ray?

I guess that means the DVD will be a direct port of the US MGM release...

After reading the reviews of the 3 Serpico releases that have been reviewed (French, US and UK), I am hoping that Shock/Cinema Cult has rights to the Paramount transfer (reads like the best looking and most film-like transfer).

IMHO, 8mm was an adequate transfer (3.5/5), free from DNR. I assume that Sony would have been the source of the 2K transfer (considering the Columbia Pictures logo is on the packaging).

Hope that Serpico won't be as hard to find as 8mm was. Hoping to walk into JB on the Monday of the week of release and buy the film.
Give me Blu-Ray or give me death.

Streaming sucks!

With Film & TV on Blu-Ray, you own it... With streaming, your just renting.

Respect the filmmakers intentions; Respect the the OAR

FWIW, I had all 3 foreign releases at various points, and have kept the UK release. Better encoded than the US transfer IMHO (although not that noticeable when watching).

I had the same problem with that disc. I contacted them via their Facebook page and they sent me a replacement disc which is fine.

p.s. I'm guessing from the pics that the age rating on the box isn't a sticker? (sigh)
As referenced above, its quite likely that instore copies of the set will have the fixed disc of Tomb Of Ligeia. If not, hopefully you can still contact Cinema Cult for a replacement.

How would you contact them? I tried Googling them and all the results were, uh...a little too 'adult' in nature.

I sent them a PM via this page. It did take a while to get a response, but then the replacement disc was sent quite promptly.

They just posted this on their FB page, yikes......Looks like the end is near.

"Greetings Cult members!
Please note that moving forward we are no longer in a position to include the card slipcases with our Blu-ray releases. I know that for some of you this will make no difference or even be seen to save on wastage; while for the more avid collectors (like myself) this could potentially mess the aesthetics of your mighty collections. To the avid collector, we apologise sincerely but with our production runs getting less & less in these digital times we can no longer sustain the current model and something has to give: its either no slipcases or no Blu-rays period! Personally, wed prefer option A so we can continue to bring you the cult favs you know & love on DVD & Blu-ray for the foreseeable future.
Kind regards,
The Cinema Cult team"

I sent them a message about the Vincent Price disc, and after an initial response to ask for my details they've gone completely quiet.

Slipcovers that reproduce the blu-ray cover art is a waste...borderline idiotic.
Also suggesting it's either no slipcovers or a stop to blu-rays seems like a bit of false equivalency...

I think its about costs. I remember when Arrow did a poll on Cult-Labs about getting rid of the window boxes, they stated that the costs in producing them if removed would allow for licensing of more lucrative titles. Surely enough once they dropped the slipcases, they started pulling far bigger licenses and doing restorations

I actually agree with you. Slipcovers are only really worth making if they have different art to the regular cover like arrival. However, i feel bad for the collecters that have most if not all of the other cinema cult titles with slips on them.

Ah well no biggy, I already binned all my CC slipcovers after they released Baron Munchausen without one. They were quite thick anyway and when you start getting a few titles lined up on the shelf they start taking up extra space that you could fit another couple of blu's into.

i usually end up getting the overseas versions cos cult dont seem to port over all of or any of the special features.. or at least do not put them on the back of the box.

Given that these titles have a triple disc release in the UK and US....... and their 'age' ..... the same package could / should have been done here. (assuming that they wont be) .....
