Just watched my version! Beautiful bluray!

For anyone who wants to know what audio to watch it with, you can pick any of them. The Mandarin is dubbed and the Cantonese is dubbed. I watched the movie with someone who knows Cantonese and Mandarin and it was confirmed that the voices were not from the actors. I watched it in the Cantonese 5.1 track which gave the most realistic and connected voices to Bridget, Maggie, Tony and Donnie. In the Mandarin tracks, Maggie has an awful high-pitched witchy voice and Donnie sounds like he is dubbed by Jet Li.

The film looked absolutely beautiful, the english subs were great and this movie is seriously a classic HK film!

If anyone wants to buy a new, sealed Dragon Inn for $60 (not including shipping), let me know.

A few spelling errors and some awkward translations, but generally smooth and good! I would give the subs a grade of B - that is great enough for me for what used to be on videos of pre-1990s HK films!

Well, some rather sad news! Received an email from the eBay supplier and said that they had a miscalculation in their inventory and they were out of stock when I purchased my copy. Rather odd, because, it said that there were 20 in stock left at time of purchase. I could see if it was 5 or less then one might be risking it. I am rather frustrated now as this makes my 2nd negative experience with this particular eBay seller. I decided to give them a 2nd chance with this release after my negative experience with The Bride with White Hair. But, now it makes me wonder. They said they would contact me if something changes but for now I am just getting my money back and no disk. Time to leave some negative feedback for the seller?

It's a pain in the ass but I'm not sure you can leave negative feedback if they gave you a full refund without argument.

Sure you can. They shouldn't be putting something up on Ebay if they don't actually HAVE it to put up.

I agree it's annoying but it could just be an honest mistake?

So this came and went right past me

You know a lot of us would be extremely grateful if someone ripped the bluray and had it available online to stream or torrent.
I really don’t want to watch the awful rips on YouTube of this glorious film :/

One thing that confuses me is that Tsui Hark apparently dislikes the version we've always seen on DVD, but the description he gave doesn't really tally with what we have.

Thanks for the input. MLife needs to figure out a better way to get their product out to the outside world than through one questionable eBay seller.

If you really don't want to be confined to watching rips on YouTube, then, perhaps, you could PM toddly6666 and see if he can get you a copy. He lives in HK and is near a store that carries copies. I may end up contacting him myself regarding this. But, this attitude of getting these movies for free is part of the problem here. If there were more people buying these releases they would not be so restricted and hard to get; nor cost as much for those of us that are willing to pay for them.

Well, that is interesting. Is there a source for that interview? I wonder what he thought he directed as opposed to what we have been watching all these years?

I’m in 100% favor of owning physical copies.
I myself own over 1,100 blurays, vhs, bootlegs, laser discs, etc..
But when they limit films like this to small amounts and don’t have it available in its original form in America I have to resort to digital versions sadly.

Too bad MLife doesn't offer a way to download the movie at a lesser fee so one could burn their own. That would make more sense due to the limited quantities being offered.
