It's one way HBO is combating the glut of scripted content in the crowded cable and streaming universe.

Not really. HBO has been pretty good releasing final seasons of series (drama and comedy) to Blu-ray.

I sure hope not. This is possibly my favorite show I've watched in the past 10 years. Season two was hilarious.

I was just messing around with my comment...

I don’t know anything about people saying obsolete 10yrs ago but I do know that this would have received a Blu-ray release 10yrs ago. Guaranteed

Still seems fairly likely we could get a blu a little while down the line. At least, I don't think this particular set rules out a blu-ray and/or an individual DVD release of season two. I'll wait and see.

Also, this whole series was great. Not for everybody, but I loved it.

Considering that this was really one two-part story, and I've only seen the Blu-ray of the first part, I really hope HBO releases the conclusion on Blu-ray. It seems silly when this is the second and last part of the series to only have the first part on Blu-ray.

Loved the music on season 2. I hope we can hear it in DTS-HD.

This is a pretty weird choice. No blu-ray and putting both season 1 and 2 together.

It says Digital is included, surely that means Digital HD? I’m concerned that it doesn’t specify.

I'd assume Digital HD. I'm hoping this press release was just a weird fluke and they'll announce a Season 2 Blu soon. Wouldn't be that strange if Season 1 never was released on Blu but this seems odd for HBO.

Still pretty shocked this isn't coming out on Blu-ray. Still hoping it happens and HBO doesn't make a habit of this.

Getting really annoyed that certain shows are being skipped on Blu-Ray, especially Fargo season 3.

I'm hoping HBO quietly puts out a Season 2 blu-ray. Doesn't make sense they'd do Season 1 on Blu and not Season 2.

And the final season of The Leftovers was relegated to a Warner Archives release. I would have hoped that such a critically acclaimed series could get a complete series box, as I would have bought it by this point.

This might be a stretch, but maybe not: I've been thinking these recent drastic sales on HBO complete series sets (sopranos, the wire, boardwalk, true blood, etc, for $50 or less) is just them clearing out stock so they can devote less resources to this department.

I was hoping since this was a series from Danny McBride who has had success at the network before coupled with the fact that it was not a low rated series that HBO chose to cancel because of underperformance, that it would be released on Blu-ray. I suppose I can watch it on hbo go, but I greatly enjoyed this series and would really love to own it in its entirety on Blu-ray.

I emailed HBO and got a seemingly automated email back. It didn't say there were no plans to release it, it just said "Go to the HBO store and if it's not available there, try Amazon." I checked the store and there don't appear to be any DVDs or Blu-rays there at all.

Oh well. Maybe we'll get an announcement some day.

Are there any chance this can come out via WAC?
The last season of The Leftovers was released that way.
