USA My Father the Hero (1994) (Special Edition) - April 3rd, 2018

Kino will be releasing a new edition for My Father the Hero (1994) on April 3rd.

Quote:
Gérard Depardieu (Green Card) stars as an overprotective father who lands in hot water when his overactive teenage daughter (Katherine Heigl, Knocked Up) gets in over her head at a tropical vacation resort. Soon, the mischievous teen is getting Dad in big trouble hurling him into one madcap misadventure after another. Combining uproarious comedy and a beautiful island setting, My Father the Hero simply overflows with nonstop fun in the sun. Discover for yourself the comedy hit that left critics and audiences alike drowning with laughter. Directed by Steve Miner (Warlock, House), this is a wonderful remake of Gérard Lauzier s 1991 French hit Mon père, ce héros which also starred Depardieu. Co-starring Lauren Hutton (Gator) and Stephen Tobolowsky (Groundhog Day).

Special Features:

-Audio Commentary by Director Steve Miner
-Original Theatrical Trailer

I'll bet Steve Miner was baffled when he was asked to record a commentary for this almost 25 years later.
"First, ye rubs somethin' furry t'builds up a charge...then ye picks yer target...!"

Selling U.S. Blu digital copies of Boardwalk Empire (complete series) in UV and iTunes flavors for $23.00 a pop. (no trades)

Still have this one from the Dollar Tree MC sale a few years ago. The only ones I'd probably take special editions from that batch would be childhood favorites like the Ernest movies, Camp Nowhere, etc. Hopefully some new titles will be released.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. From the Kino Lorber Studio Classics thread:

I'll remember I seen this movie in VHS way back to 1990's and I like this movie and still not own Blu-ray yet and one day for me

I'm surprise Mill Creek no longer release this... how about Ernest movie with Special Edition would be nice

Ernest Goes to Camp
Ernest Saves Christmas (never on Blu-ray)
Ernest Goes to Jail
Ernest Scared Stupid

How about that, Kino?

I like the film but I bought the DVD and got the Mill Creek BD for $1 so I don't watch it enough to upgrade. TBH I'd rather have Kino release stuff like Ruthless People, Green Card, Outrageous Fortune, Encino Man, Metro, The Air Up There and yes Mission To Mars. It seems they are getting titles to release dumped by Mill Creek.

Anyway if you haven't seen the film yet let me say the
[Show spoiler]piano scene cracks me up every time I watch it. If you have seen the film you know what I am talking about. He wasn't aware what his daughter was telling people.
It's worth the price for that scene alone.

They are limited in choices to stuff that Disney (Buena Vista/Touchstone) haven't released on DVD themselves. So many of the ones you mentioned wouldn't be available to them.

My Father The Hero was released on DVD by Buena Vista and got dumped to Mill Creek. I had the DVD before got it at Suncoast back in the day. So was Celtic Pride they are releasing that to (not a Mill Creek title). I know Mill Creek released Green Card on DVD (another Depardieu 90's film) so maybe they could get that one (they seem to be acquiring catalog from Mill Creek) I'd love to have a Blu-ray for that very good film. I do hope Ruthless People, Mission To Mars (Region A friendly) and Metro be made available on Blu-ray someday hopefully.
