The bad actor who plays Woolie in the beginning keeps Criterion away from it...

Man, I don't think I've ever felt so impatient for a release before. Just counting off the days!

Oh yeah, he says it in episode 2. Rewatch it. Great line. Oh...never mind. I see what you did. LOL

Just from those two, the Janus stills look better.

I wish someone would rip the new Criterion disc, and use it as a source for a remaster of this one http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0230575/

I think I remember watching a snippet of that on G4 YEARS ago.

UPDATE: I tried several different screen capture methods, and selected one that produced results best matching the Blu-ray.com screengrab shown below, since apparently that's the gold standard of accuracy. All of the screencaps in the previous posts have been updated using this same method. I also kept the images in the same format of the capture software (PNG), instead of compressing as JPGs.

A couple of additional screencaps comparing Criterion to Happinet. The 40th anniversary restoration's image is slightly squeezed, which is most noticeable in close-ups.

No, it's not. It's correct. The other versions are not. So it's possibly accurate to say the Happinet is slightly stretched instead of saying the correct version is squeezed (which would imply it's incorrect).

The 40th anniversary restoration is the Happinet version.

I was pleasantly surprised to get a shipping notice from Walmart this morning (along with my cancelled Silence of the Lambs pre-order, but that's on the hush-hush), with a delivery date of tomorrow.

I just preordered my copy from Walmart.com, $18.31 plus tax shipped to home! I cannot wait to see this release and all these fine looking extras that are included on this! Exceptional all around deal for what is being charged for this preorder! Been a fan of this film since the late 80’s, bought this really cheap on vhs off of some discount rack and been a fan of Romero’s ever since! It’s great that I am reading about all this excitement for this all over this thread! Between this special NOTLD release and the deluxe Suspiria blu ray out next month, the first quarter of 2018 could not be better for me personally!

Watch for a charge on that. My cancelled items have been charged at times and were returned.
