Default Wolverine won't play in the Oppo BDP-83

I just tried watching the new Wolverine BD and it would not play on my Oppo BDP-83,I checked the firmware and it was up to date. so I tried the movie on one of my other players(Sony 550) and it played without any problems. I don't know what the deal is,this is the first time a BD would not play in my Oppo

Well, I just talked to someone over at highdefjunkies.com and they said that you have to turn OFF the BD-Live option, and sure enough it played fine without any problems

We need to have a sticky about this BD-Live issue, nine times out of ten it's BD-Live causing the playback problems! Since day one I've had BD-Live disabled on my Oppo BDP-83, that's why every disc I've put into the Oppo worked the first time.

You have quite an inventory there in your signature!

I had the same issue. I figured out is was BD-Live when I put it into my PS3 to see if it would play and the first thing that came on the screen was a message saying that BD-Live had to update for this movie title (or something to that extent).

So, I turned off BD-Live on the Oppo, put the disc back in and it worked.

Glad you were able to get it fixed, too.

You beat me to the punch! I've read that the BD-Live is causing problems with playback for some people, so I made sure I had it disabled before I tried playing it. Didn't have any problems. Glad you were able to make it work.

I'll second what another poster said - that's quite a collection you have there.

Thank You for the compliment , I had to bring up my Sony S550 from the basement so I could watch Wolverine because I didn't find out about turning off the BD-Live fix until the movie was over. But It was a very cool flick besides having to switch out BD players with people waiting to watch the movie

watched this blu-ray this afternoon on my OPPO BDP-83 with no problems whatsovever, of course I have my BD-Live set to off. It's a very entertaining movie (certainly not brain surgery) that l thought looked very good on my 65" Panny plasma. Audio was very good over the OPPO's analog outs. the perfect blu-ray to buy when you want to put your system through its paces.
