Default Plasma Overuse?

Hello all,

I recently purchased a 50" Panasonic plasma, primarily for watching movies and sports on the weekends- I really don't watch too much TV day-to-day. Trouble is my new roommates are douche bags and don't have lives. Consequently, my TV has been used much more frequently then I had anticipated. I'd say 6 hours a day during the week and 10-12 hours a day on weekends.

Should I be concerned about overuse or am I being completely anal? If I should be worried about overuse, what are some good rules of thumb to prevent it? Are there any telltale signs of overuse. Thanks in advance.

I would say you're just being anal . The Panasonics are very good and are tested to survive for 100,000 hours before their half-life. That'll probably give 30 years at the rate they're using it.

Your worried about nothing. relax and enjoy, panasonic makes some of the best displays out, pannys reliability is 2nd to none. Your room mates are very luck to be able to use such a sweet TV. My 5020 gets 10-12hrs of use a day and my origanl 111 Elite gets 8-10hrs a day. I have a Panasonic 50" 60u that is a 2007 model that was/is used 12+ hrs a day and is perfect still (of course).
Pioneer 9G Kuro's 5020 with Elite board swap, KRP500m, Elite 111, Elite 151. Onkyo 706, Polk TSi 5.1 all the way around & 10" sub. Pioneer BD player & Panasonic BD player along with three PS3's, all original 60gig units. 2x Harmony 1100 & 1 Harmony 1000 touch screen remotes. About 1,000 Blu-rays...

Don't worry about it. At 8 hours of use every day, 365 days a year, that works out to over 34 years before the TV reaches half-life.

No need to worry.

Worry about what they're using your set for, not how often and for how long.

Wouldn't the 60u be a 2006 model? 2007 being the 70u, 2008 being the 80u and the 2009 equivalent I guess would be either the u1 or s1???
