Monoprice usually for me.

Amazon is selling their own branded cables now too...cheap. One year warranty as well

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001T9NUJE

I ordered 2 of them. We'll see how these are.

i think it is calibrated because my games have a great quality but the movie don´t, you are right about the darkness in some scenes and thats when the image turns blurry, and when I put the movie in the av format the movie looks fine with no issues, I think it might be the cable, do you know if the gbps has something to do with it? cause mine runs 5gbps

If you are getting an image, then it's not the cable. Like I said, it's probably a tweak in the settings which is crushing a lot of the low-light detail. Check out the tv calibration settings thread for your display to see what some other members recommend.

Placebo unless you had a complete crap cable. How in the world can you be a member around here all year and STILL throw your money away on Monster? Someone needed to do a little more research...

Oh yeah? Well, you haven't proven that you can't hear a difference anyway and that the cheap cables haven't changed the zero to be a different zero or that they haven't introduced some kind of latency. You can't prove otherwise. And my daddy's cables can beat up your daddy's cables. Besides, I have a really small _____ and when I plug those big, fat juicy cables into my equipment, it just makes me feel so big, especially if I've paid $1200 for them. And if you can't hear the difference, then you just don't have as sophisticated hearing capabilities as us nouveau riche people. After all, I absolutely cannot watch Porky's or The Three Stooges unless I have the absolutely best cable ever made. Excuse me...I have to go now..have to pick something up at Walmart.

2' Nordost Silver Screen HDMI cable does not cost $500. It does not even come in 2'. Shortest length is 1 Meter and that retails for $250.

But do you actually hear "001001101001100101"?

Might want to tell Music Direct that, they sell 1', 2', 3', and 4' - the latter is US$459.

I know I'm from Canada and all, but last time I checked, there was a big difference between feet and meters. Your link to Music Direct has a pulldown window that specifies it in meters, not feet.
And don't hold being from Canada against me.

' denotes "foot". In 1080-P's first post he said he had purchased a 2' (foot) HDMI. (Which I do not think Monster sells 2feet lengths.

According to music direct, the lengths are 1M, 2M, 3M, 4M. The "M" would denote meters. 1M = approximately 3.28 Feet. So if you're going to try to compare pricing between cables, you should use a length closer in length to what 1080-P has purchased. Even though the price of a cable is completely ad hominem circumstantial and does affect its performance.

That is why I asked the OP what length he came from. Monster dosn't sell that cable in a 2' length. And if he is confusing 2' with 2M (Approx. 6 foot), then WOW!

Oh, and digital is not always what goes in comes out the same. This is the main reason for TCP on computer networks. packets can get lost, be send out of order, etc. Granted video and audio across a single cable is less likely to see the issues of a computer network, but it is still bits. Also, since digital is electrical on or off, any outside interference can corrupt the signal, this can cause added grain, lines, or complete lack of signal. Latency is also another issue, this can cause audio to be out of sync, echoey, choppy, or nothing at all.

I'm not starting an argument because in my experience of HDMI cables under 6' (most of mine are 3' or 4' in length) I have not seen any difference or issues between my Blue Jeans, Monoprice, Philips, Monster, or any others I have acquired over the years. There may be difference that need to be addressed with longer cables over 15-20' but I'm not there yet.

Hahahaha, me too...good catch!!

My apologies Chizzap, it's confusing sometimes living in this treacherously cold climate! I understand now why you mentioned the 2' thing as pertains to 1080-P's post, but that's really irrelevant to what I was trying to get across.

Anyway, I'm not comparing pricing at all, that wasn't my point - I simply was referring to each cable performing identically so it's impossible to notice a difference in PQ or AQ unless one cable is faulty at the distances we're talking about here (ie - under 20ft). You may notice a difference in cable build, but not in performance.

The essence of Diby Blu's argument is that there's no difference in the output quality of the various HDMI cables. I fully agree. If the HDMI cable is in a good condition the PQ & AQ quality will be identical. I initially purchased a couple of the expensive cables, and have purchased Monoprice since then. Zero difference.
