Its worthwhile if you want to do PvP and annoy other people by destroying their gear.

PvP = Player versus Player (killing Black Phantoms or being a Black Phantom and attacking other players in their game)


For that Demon Soul all you can do is either consume it for 1520 souls or make the spear.

man i have been playing this for around about 26 hours and i know nothing. i have concentrated on levelling up (level 34 now) amd upgrading kit. i have done 1.2 1.2, 2.1 and thats it. should i go straight for the flamelurker next 2.2? can i ditch the dragons shield after level 2 it weights too much and i have the silver shield. any good all round weapons i should be gunning for?

The halberd is awesome for taking on 1 enemy. With two hand mode, it jabs and has awesome range so you can use it in hallways. The downside is that its a little slow in 1h mode and doesnt have a big sweep area liek swords do. The strong attack does however, but it eats up stamina. There is a really nice scimitar at the start of 4-1, but you need to snipe a black skeleton with arrows. It will take a while cause he moves and hides behing some stuff at times.

I think the best early level shield is the Dark Heater Shield +2 from 2-2 due to it's low weight and your, presumably, low endurance.

Killing the Flamelurker is helpful since his Demon's Soul will allow you to make use of Blacksmith Ed for special upgrades, but he can be pretty difficult the first few times. Never melee'd him. If you have Soul Arrow, just shoot when you have space between the two of you and spend the rest of the time running around.

Finaly got around to importing this i should have it by next week

DS has got quite a rep for being extremely difficult and very punishing so i dont mind saying im a bit worried that i will get very stuck very fast!
Since i mostly play shooters my experience of RPGs only goes as far as Baldurs Gate, Elder Scrolls, Fallout 3 and thats about it.
So anyone got any advice? like whats the best character to start out with? and i heard if you play online other players can jump into your singleplayer game kill you and steal your stuff! whats that all about? would it be a good idea not to play online at least when just starting out?

Any other pearls of wisdom would be greatly appreciated

1-You will die a lot, specially at the beginning, so be patient
2-Dont rush, always move with ur shield up
3-Royalty is the easiest class to start with
4-After chapter 1-1 game gets better, maybe cause you are familiar with game, after spending more than 2 hours on 1-1 :P
5-Use the wiki, pretty helpful

And good luck as you are going to need it, there is one part on 1-1 that you are not suppose to go that way cause there is a black phantom with higher level than you, that will destroy in 1 second if you go there. Like I said use the Wiki

Can someone shed a little more light on the multiplayer side of things please? from my understanding if you are logged into PSN then you are online and anyone can join your game, so does this happen often? am i going to be constently invaded and killed by more experienced players or do most people join to help?

-People can only 'invade' your game if you are currently in body form in a world where the major demon has yet been defeated and you are online.

-You can only summon people to help you defeat a demon if you are in body form in a world where you need to defeat a demon.

-You can only be summoned if you are in soul form.

Anybody can tell me where I need to go and what should be done to unlock YURIA?

I did the sidequest in and before 1-3 but I cant find her in the nexus...

She said she needed to sleep but how long will that sleep last?

Where can I find her in the Nexus? Do I need to completely pass 1-3 for her to be available?

I think its on page one. Its also on the wiki. Its not too terribly difficult, just very time consuming. You need to do white and black world tendency events in all 5 worlds and that can take some work. I only had to "farm" for 2 of the weapon upgardes. I got all the other stones just playing through.
