Default Travis's Stuff

Welcome into my home.

In one room, I have my stuff, desk, books, and most importantly Blu-rays.

The living room is my HT. This is not exactly what I want.

I would like to get a proper stand and hang the TV on the wall. Moved in last February, and haven't gotten around to moving the old stand. But it is heavy and solid and can't be move by me.

Also dog is finally done chewing, I think. She is 2 and a 1/2 now. Hopefully new sofa will be in the near future. Under the blankets are massive holes in the cushions.

Everyone thanks for your comments and suggestions, I hope to be able to update soon with pics of new gear, paint and furniture.

Nice Collection of Components,Travis. An Always Excellent Speaker and Sub choice with B&W's. And a Great Start with an Optoma Projector.

You have the makings of an outstanding Home Theater, and look forward to seeing it develop. Thanks for sharing all the pics both good and bad(The Dog Damage),its a welcomed site to show all aspects of what you are starting with.

So I see you have a Great Update Planned with a Marantz SR6003 AV Receiver.Marantz makes exceptional components that perform very well for their price.

So,Welcome to the Home Theater Gallery Section,And I look forward to seeing your Thread grow as your System Expands.

And with that big cabinet/stand you have in there now, perhaps you could get a saw and cut it in a location that allows you to remove it much easier. And then would allow you to put it back together as one piece if you have any future plans for it.

PS-- Love The "Alien" Movie Avitar.

Thanks for all the comments.

There is a room at the back right side with sliding doors and just Japanese tatami mats inside. The cabinent should go there, but I'll need a few people to help lift it.

Hope to get new stand when I get new AVR. Pics coming soon.

PJ is SVGA, same as DV11 in the US, and screen is 4:3, 84". The PJ I use at work sometimes on the whiteboard. The PJ is just a bonus from work that i keepat home to tide me over until I can get a 1080p PJ mounted on the ceiling.

I don't set it up that often anymore because I can never leave it out. Worried the dog will get at the cables. Plus the TV is sharper. But for DVDs, watched LOST recently, and Madden the PJ works like a charm.

Default Going shopping next weekend.

Have my train ticket to Taipei, and am going to get my new Marantz SSR6003 and maybe a new stand and multi-region DVD/SACD player. It should be a good day.

My first priority is getting lossless HD sound. Last night I had a thought, again, maybe I should be looking at new BD player with analog outputs.

Talking Travis's Artwork

some nice stuff.
suggestion for the kitchen scene. add an area light for the ceiling light. it looks bright but doesnt give off any light. (the island should be brighter)
you also lose depth at the back left because the refrigerator is as dark as the back wall so the refrigerator looks like it's against the door. darken that light in that back hallway and add that area light which should brighten up the refrigerator some bringing it forward separating it from the wall.

also the grass in the first render shouldnt go up. especially not squared up like that. best way to fix this is to make it go down so the concrete is higher than the grass.

Congratulations on getting the Ticket to Taipei,Travis.

I hope everything goes Smoothly for you in getting that Awesome Marantz AV Receiver. And also on the DVD/SACD player as well.I have to admit I am Thrilled for you, plus I am A Little Jealous.Because I would trade my Yamaha for a Marantz AVR any time.

And next month I am planning on getting a SACD Player. Just keep me updated on what brand you get, and how well it performs. It may weigh in on what Brand I Get.

The trip to Taipei was disappointing.

Wanted to go to Costco, for many things including ground beef and Kirkland coffee. And go shopping for Marantz SR6003 and a stand.

As many people know, Costco sometimes has it, sometimes doesn't. This time it didn't. Got some Folgers, but will have to wait another 4 months for spaghetti and meatballs.

Went to shop for an AVR. No 6003s in stock, none on the way. Asked about 7002s, none in stock and none on the way. They said SR7004 will be coming out in January.

The 6004s will arrive next week. I slept on it and decided I have no choice. Wife is calling later to try to get me a good price. They quoted me 39,000NTD (1,200 USD).

The furniture they had was beautiful but more than the AVR. Will order this http://www.zhanyi.com.tw/product/des...d=21&pd_id=162

But the weekend wasn't a totally waste, even though I came home with no ground beef, no Kirkland coffee, no SR6003, and no stand. I did get 11 Blu-rays. 8,050NTD (250USD)

They had a buy 2 get 1 free, I got:
Bourne Identity
Bourne Supremacy
Bourne Ultimatum
Planet of the Apes (original)
Raging Bull
L.A. Confidential

For regular prices I got:
Gladiator (SteelBook)
Monsters Inc.
Ratatouille
Cars
Sin City

Hope to post pics of new stand and new AVR next week or so.

Very Nice Looking AVR Rack .

The Contemporary Look and Shape of the Stand makes it a real eyecatcher. And I like that its got spikes and isolation discs. It will make sure you get the purest signal your components can provide.Much less wow and flutter.Very Nice Pick-Up.

Shame about the Marantz Models being inbetween the last model and the new model. One thing you can be thrilled about is when you go to pick up the Marantz it will be the Newest Model they Offer. So it will have Every Upgrade and Addition available.

I am not sure what has changed between the old and New Model. But You should have a Great Receiver.Though sorry about the Spaghetti and Meatballs.Had those for Dinner this past Friday Night.

But to end the post on a High Note you got a large Number of Really Nice
Blu-rays to add to your Collection. So way to go on getting a Great Deal on the Movies.

At least the Trip Was Far From a Total Loss.

Thanks and you're right about getting a great AVR. I was hoping to get a good one and save a few bucks, oh well. The 6004 has a few more w/ch and a couple new bells and whistles.

Default New rack in the works.

Will get rack sized to my specs. My wife contacted the company and they said they can cut the poles between the shelves to any size I want.

My current setup, I like a lot because everything can breathe. How much space is needed from top of AVR to bottom of next shelf in an open rack?

The company and the rack is ZhanYi
