Ok, this is the riser before carpeting. It was made off site and delivered today. I used the dimensions of the couch (allowing extra room for upgrades) and it turned out a little big. Hopefully it will work out ok.

This is the lighting we installed in the closets. They are small can lights with a switch added in the ceiling (on the left).

These are the small podiums for the side speakers. They were made to match the shape of the Paradigm ADP 470 v.3's. They will be covered in black velvet.

Man that crackling on the trim really looks cool. Plus it compliments the whole texturing on the walls. Boy after the professional job the painter and electrican did, don't f-up the riser!

It's is going to turn out fantastic and will inspire many!

Thanks, it is hard to see how good the crackle finish looks from pictures. In person it is beautiful (my wife's description).

The riser will look perfect, the problem is the size of the doors into the room. That made the riser sit closer to the screen than I expected. My original sitting distance was about 17 feet from a 127" diagonal screen. It looks like my front sitting distance will be about 15 and half feet now. That is what scares me. I think it should be fine because I am still a little over a 1.5 viewing distance.

Carpet is going in now as we speak!!!

Riser is complete. I put some rope lighting underneath the lip of the riser also. Side and rear surrounds are installed.

So, what is the next phase? Or do we have to wait for the next round of pictures?

I don't know....

Today I will probably try to hang all of the curtains, shelving hardware for the closet and maybe move in the chairs and couch. I can't start working on the components until I get the sound absorption panels installed on the front soundstage. I keep putting this off because it will be a lot of work. I purchased two boxes of Certainteed black acoustaboard. I will cover these with the self adheisive black velvet and then glue them to the wall. Hopefully, I can get it to look right.

I used the velvet to cover the "podiums" for the side dipole speakers and they turned out really nice. Of course that was on a hard wood surface. I don't know how the insulation will be.

Ok,

after a long weekend (about 20 hours spent on the room) I finished some things.

I have about 90% of the wiring done. It was a total pain. I had to move the HDMI to the projector, move the Cat5, 12v trigger for right amp, side L/R, Rear L/R. I am waiting on some HDMI cables, but all of the holes are cut and boxes set.

I moved two theater chairs in, installed the shelf rails, got some "artwork" on the walls, and got the curtains up.

Excellent Job so far!! I Love the carpeting design, the room, the Riser came out great & the paint job looks very nice also. Those theater chairs sure are Bright RED huh? They sure look comfortable too. You've done a great job & we look forward to more pics as you hit the home stretch.

Nice job. I like the color choices. The red chairs add some nice color, away from the black and light browns. The riser sure did come out nice. Are you thinking of adding any buttkickers to the theater seating?

Looks really good with the new additions you did this weekend.

I was wondering if you could document step-by-step your process for the acoustic treatment, I'd be interested in seeing what/how you did it.

Thanks!

Thanks Aerodude,
The carpet and riser turned out really nice. The riser is a little big. I made it a little future proof in case I upgrade to 3 more theater chairs. Right now it is going to be the red couch from the original room.

Thanks, the red chairs and curtains really pop with the new colors. I was a little worried, but the minute the curtains were up, I knew the interior decorator nailed it. No buttkickers at the moment. I am "slightly" over budget at the moment so money is getting tight. My main concern is to get cables for the front end.

Hey Lou,

Your guess is as good as mine. I have purchased two boxes of 1.5" certainteed acoustaboard. My goal is to cover them with black velvet and use them to cover the front soundstage behind the components. After cutting them to fit and covering them, I will then try to glue them to the wall so you will not see any screws. I will try to post some pics.

I need to get the front done so I can start to install the equipment. After that I will try first reflection point and the rear of the room.

Riser looks perfect and the carpet matches the crackle trim perfectly.

Why don't you place the Storm Trooper behind the recliners temporarily so that he looks like your body guard (instead of getting rid of it). You can always dress-up like Darth while sitting on the recliner and get a huge power trip!

I am really disappointed that the stormtrooper is not going to fit in the room. The shelves are being cut for the glass shelves today, so the Star Wars helmets and replica guns will be in the closet tonight!
