looks very, very nice but, how will you change those electrical receptacles should they go bad? your riser looks right up against the covers.

the riser is going to be sweet, too bad you couldn't have thrown some sub drivers in the floor under the seating like some sort of a rumble package!

great work, please keep us posted with more pic's of the finished riser project!

They are not totally flush against them. There is just enough room to unscrew them and take them off. Now If I drop them after unscrewing them then thats another story.
I thought about that, but I just decided not to do it. I get enough rumble from what I have. When I do get a 'real' subwoofer I am sure it will be even better, so I am happy.

There is always the option of Bass shakers for the seating as well !

It is completed. I included my costs in the first post for everyone to see. I thought I did good. I built with a friend and me, and had someone else do the carpet. I wanted to be sure I didn't mess that up so I got an associates husband to help me out. I plan to get rope lights in the future to really complete it. I won't bump this thread when that happens, so just look for it I guess. lol. Thanks guys.

Awesome job Infrared! Can I contract you to make mine next year? J/K, I had a blast making my sub riser.

That thing really came out great.

Default Great Job INFRARED!!

I believe you said it in an earlier post, but the little step is where your SUB is going, right? That is an Excellent job on the Riser my friend - looking forward to more pics when the Subs' in place & furniture, etc. Good luck with finishing up a great project.

My sub is staying on the front soundstage. That step needs to be there because I plan on getting real chairs for my front row, hence the riser. I guess you read that somewhere else. lol. Thanks for the comments.

Nice job infrared! I like the nice, thick shag carpet! Are you going to add LED rope lighting to the steps only, or to the entire base of the riser?

I will add it to the step and the front of the riser. That's why I have a lip on the front to put the lights underneath it.

That should look very nice....and that way no one should mis-step and trip off of the riser. Safety first!

Must have been my Imagination.I thought I saw a Knee Kicker,Stair tool, and Napping Shears on that Platform to use in laying the Carpet.

Excellent Job.The Step's lip and Riser turned out Excellent as well. That Electric Staple Gun,helped there,I would guess.

You have an Incredible Set-Up IS.

I Simply Love Every Part of your Room and System.I Installed Carpeting for over 16 years so I had to give you a little ribbing on the carpet tools.I haven't seen them on the Forum too often so I was slightly shocked.

I Simply Have Fallen in Love with the Force FX LightSabers you Have They Are Simply Stunning in their Appearance and when using the wall mounts I just sit and druel at the sight of those Lightsabers and Framed Star Wars Movie Posters.

If I could set-up my Home Theater like someone elses on this Forum,I have Just Found It.It would be Yours Without the Slightest Hesitation.

Nice job infrared!! I've been watching this thread and you make building a DIY riser look so easy!!

One question: If you were building a riser that would extend out from the wall into the middle of the room, would you make any design changes? I assume everything is heavy enough, especially once you put the seats in place, that you wouldn't have any movement of the riser.

Now, maybe the wife will allow me to get new Berklines with power recline if I can somehow come up with a riser that looks half as good as yours

Infrared,

Now anytime someone sits down and gets a nose-bleed on that couch, you will have the satisfaction of knowing you built the riser!

Fantastic work. You are a natural! What's next???

Ah shucks. Thanks for those great compliments. That makes all my hard work that I have done worth it.
I didn't do any of the carpeting. An associates husband did it for me and he just brought those tools because it was just a riser. I don't care what they are, the end result turned out awesome. hehe. He did a great job.

I probably wouldn't do anything different. This is as heavy as a tank and won't move at all. It took my friend and I just to push it into position. The carpet on the floor probably helps it not move as well.

Thanks. Rope lights and a real front row of seats. Probably won't happen till next year when I get tax return though.
