It took about 10 hours to do the front walls.

I think it looks really nice. Though not perfect (according to my wife) you can't see any of the imperfections from 5 feet.

Hope that explains it.

Very cool!

I love black velvet. I used it on my starceiling and on my projector screen valance and wish I could cover the entire room in black velvet!

I don't know if I have told you before, but you did a great job on your ceiling. It is very impressive.

Well thank you! It means a lot especially coming from you - based on your HT modifications, you obviously have good taste!

I actually wanted to do a star field on the entire ceiling in my room, but there is only about 2ft of angled crawl space above it so I didn't even try.

I wish my budget could handle my taste!

Well, as of last night I have the front speakers in place, all of the components in place and the sub set. I also have all of the HDMI cables in place and did a check on them last night. They all work great.

I am waiting for another shelf and some cables to come back from Analysis Plus. The shelf should be in Friday and the cables should be in around then also. I had to get a longer interconnect for the amp on the right side, new center channel speaker cable and another set re terminated for the front left and right channel. I spoke to one of their technicians @ Analysis Plus about how the best way to get my amp on the left connected. I didn't know if I should try to run a long interconnect or a long speaker cable. After talking to him we decided on going with a 25 ft balanced cable and a short speaker cable.

Its getting close for a trial run!

Should be up and running

Well, I just finished up with Analysis Plus. What a great company. I talked to Mark Markel, that happens to be the president of Analysis Plus, and he was kind enough to advise me on my needs. They also gave me a $1000 trade in on my old set of speaker cables. If I sold them on the open market, I would have been lucky to get $650. So needless to say, they have a customer for life.

Well, I did an initial alignment on my PJ and anamorphic lens tonight.

The perceived contrast level has gone up dramatically. The black ceilings and darker paint scheme is going to pay off more than I had hoped.

I am about 95% done. Just waiting on some cables and we will be up and running!

Phansson,

Does that black velvet absorb very well light? Will it absorb completely black bars?

I am about to order it but I'll wait until I hear back.

It does a really good job. The Fidelio velvet that is around my symourAV screen is probably a little better (not much), but the Fidelio is about 5 times more expensive and doesn't have an adheisive backing available.

It's really great to see all your progress on here. I'm very impressed and jealous of the room you have! It's going to be a spectacular theater that will entertain your friends and family for a long time.

Ps. Love the star wars helmets - are they sideshow?

Thanks, it has been a total PITA, but we are very close.

The helmets are a combination.

The boba and Ep III clone are both Master Replicas.
The Ep II clone captain is an eFX.

The Stormtrooper is commonly referred to as a GF helmet. It is part of my full size "a new hope" suit. It is a screen accurate recast by a gentleman named Gino Follano. Somehow he got access to castings from an original ROTJ suit and an ANH helmet. He was able to make very good recasts of the original movie used props. I was lucky enough to pick one up on the secondary market about two years ago. I wore it for halloween that year, my 4 year old son was Darth Vader. It was a lot of fun.

Just received in my box from Analysis Plus,

1 25 ft balanced interconnect for right amp.
2 1m bi wired with WBT locking bananas on amp side for L/R mains
1 12 ft bi wired with WBT locking bananas on amp side for center

I also had the speaker cables made with black mesh so they will blend better.

Like I said earlier, they gave me $1000 credit for my pair of solo crystal 2m speaker cables, so it turned out to not be horrible.

I can't wait to install them tonight.

Well, the theater is pretty much finished and I just christened it with "Star Trek".

Perceived contrast is remarkably better with the new colors. Also having the speakers behind the screen made for a very theater like experience. It is something that I am going to have to get used to. I might need to spread the speakers apart just a little more and mess around with the angles. Also need to find a way to raise the center channel up about two inches.

I will try to post some pictures this weekend of the finished product. Their will all ways be some small tweaks
