It's a very solid release. Nicely reproduced grain and sharpness. In the beginning the outdoor shots of the school are breathtaking. I did spot one sense with compression issues.. still a 4.5 stars from me.

I'd give Freddy/jason a good 4, especially the night scenes where blacks are black instead of the greyish white on DVD

I agree with the above. Get it when it's on sale, and it's worth the upgrade to BD.

It is definitely worth it. It looks and sound good. Moreover, it is cheap.

Years ago, when Nightmare on Elmstreet first came out on VHS (lol) I was at a friends house for a Halloween party and saw it for the first time.
It was really amazing at the depth of the frightfest, great premise and solid scares. I liked it from get go.

Then as usual, in the tradition of Halloween, Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elmstreet...they sequeled them to death.

That all said...I needed a 'Freddy' BluRay in my collection, and when I saw FvJ on the shelves got it, watched it and really liked it.

It allows guys like me, who enjoy Freddy to a degree (and Englund still plays him), and is curious about Jason but, perhaps don't need the umpteen flicks on him...a chance to own one great movie with both.

I'm saying not only is it a good transfer imo, it is a very solid flick in it's own right.

Yes. Buy it at any price under $17 is worth every penny.

Great film, I just wish Freddy would've had more kills.

Watching this now and I forgot what a terrible actress Monica Keena is. I wish they chose a different final girl.

Great Movie with a solid transfer on blu and for a 4.99 price tag it was a no brainier pick up for me.
Now just need to upgrade my Friday the 13th series from dvd to blu and I'm all set.

FvJ was such a letdown compared to what it could've been. It had some fun moments, but the final showdown was kind of rediculous. I still had fun with it though.

Fun trivia: One of the proposed endings was Fredding and Jason in Hell, still fighting it out, then suddenly 2 chains fly out, each hooking Freddie and Jason. Then a voice in the distance proclaims, "What...is...this...ruckus?"...and there stands Pinhead. That scene alone would've made the movie 50% better.
