Culver City, Calif. - 3net, the new 3D HD television channel produced by a joint venture of Sony, Discovery Communications and IMAX, said Wednesday that it has reached its first carriage deal with DirecTV and will begin airing 24/7 3D programming on the satellite TV system Feb. 13. 3net will go live at 8 p.m. EST on DirecTV channel 107 with a prime time slate featuring world premieres of new, one-hour, native 3D original programs including "China Revealed" and "Forgotten Planet," in addition to a world 3D television premiere of "Into The Deep 3D." The channel plans to debut new programming through the month of February every night at 9 p.m. EST. 3net content will focus on offering native 3D content and expects to have the "largest library of native 3D entertainment content in the world by the end of 2011." DirecTV customers will need a 3D-capable HDTV and compatible 3D glasses to view content on 3net. The company also offers three other 3D channels including n3D, ESPN 3D and DirecTV Cinema 3D pay-per-view content.
