I'm sure B&N would love that.

I would say no to this, only because it is a Warner owned title and they do not license titles out. It is either "Black Cat, White Cat" or Paul Schrader's "Cat People". Both of which are Universal controlled titles, and they do license titles to Criterion.

It's either to me Island of Lost Souls or just for a hope sake (since I pretty much see it as Island....), the Cat People remake.

If I can buy Blow Out I could certainly buy Cat People '82.

Island of Lost Souls on BD would be the GREATEST news I've heard all year. IOLS on DVD only from Criterion, would be second greatest.
The reason I'm being open-minded is because the film elements are supposedly in bad shape. But if anyone can put this title on BD and make it presentable, it's Criterion. |

What site was it that had that Raffaello Matarazzo Eclipse (not that I'm looking for that price) at a real low price? I remember a month or 2 ago someone posted a site that had a mess up on the price.

I put my pre-order in at Family Video for just shy of $30.

Is it just me, or does the Criterion reviewer on this site, Dr. Svet Atanasov, way too often speak of his own personal wishlist in reviews? I mean, don't get me wrong, Dr. Stanasov's reviews are always well done and I find them very helpful when trying to decide whether to purchase a Criterion blu-ray. But on far too many of his reviews (perhaps more often then not), the Conclusion section doesn't really speak much of the film being reviewed, but of other films (usually by the same director) that Atansov would like to see on Criterion blu-ray? Shouldn't the conclusion be more focused on the disc reviewed, and personal wishes for future films be left for this forum or perhaps an editorial article? It seems a little unprofessional and gives off the vibe that no matter what Criterion do on blu-ray, Dr. Svet is never satisfied.
That has been bugging me for a while, and after finishing the Solaris review, needed to get it off my chest. I assume that I will be very flamed and perhaps banned from the forum now? |
