I had a chance to get the song of 3 Idiots of my friend which was in 1080p DTS 5.1 and the sound was awful the picture was washed out ? what the hell was wrong with the BD?

I have the blu ray and no truth in your statement above, the pq of 3 idiots is really good, the aq was a bit loud (think it was authored that way), but definitely not the issues you have mentioned. The only problem was with the menu screens, but the disc was re-released with that issue fixed.

i have the earlier version and though the picture isn't great but colours are vibrant and there is no problem in AQ of any songs as well!

Can someone please tell me which of the following is the newer, fixed version of 3 Idiots? Are the covers really different?

If you go back and see, one of them has a release year of 2009 and the other has a release year of 2010. Perhaps 2010 is the newer one? That's just speculation on my part, I don't have this film.

Yes I noticed that too but I think the first version of the BD released in Dec 2010 and the fixed version released in 2011, so I don't know why they are saying 2009. What's more odd is that the 2009 one is more expensive than the 2010 one.

The one released in 2009 has been permanently discontinued as per the link. Get the Region A disc, which is the newer released.
