Cop pulls up behind them and they still race.

What a sore loser.

Glad you learned your lesson, and we all make dumb mistakes and owning up to them shows your a good person!... People arent saying negative things becuase they dont like you, were all just trying to knock some sense into you... which has seemed to work

I think this thread should be locked, but thats just me...
When i got home that evening, I went straight to the garage and practiced my draw and SHOUT techniques as well as my roll, somersault and aim drills and made myself a promise that I would never ever be caught off-guard again.-dfinch

And it sucks because this forum is great and there's lots of good helpful ppl in here and I hink I gave a bad impression of myself.

And yes. Locked and or deleted would be fine by me. I don't like to be reminded of how stupid I can be sometimes.

I think you're a big man for coming back here and talking it out after the early thrashings you got.

Now that deserves a ticket and they both pulled over had it been me I'd have made him decide which car he wanted.

I love racing and have done what you did when I was younger ( here comes my bashing). I learned my lesson through other people getting in trouble or crashing. I never got caught or crashed or anything but in a one week period there were 4 crashes and a death in 2 of them. At that point I looked into legal racing which for what I wanted to do( course/road racing) was not too cheap. I then found SCCA and partcipated in soloII autocross. I suggest it to ANYONE who has a car and wants the adrenaline of racing. Only 25 bucks, your own car and it is more of a time trial than actually racing. I liked that it was a run(race)/work(mandatory participationin helping out during other class time trials)Great way to get into knowing your own car and moving up from there. I did very well in my 91 CRX and 00 civic Si. I miss those days

I understand what you are saying about empty roads and you really can tell if someone is there or not, especially at night. Unless they are driving without headlights on then you can tell but you never know, they could and that would be a hard lesson to have to learn.

We've have all been stupid at one (or many in some cases) time in our lives, we are all homosapiens with balls afterall.
Oh and props OP, it takes a man to admit something like that on a public (hanging) , ahem, forum.

Haha, thanks guys.. Yea The lesson learned really did make me think.. Even tho it was on a Blu Ray forum... But that just goes to show I actually do see good advice on forums/ or the net in general, And I just thought I should explain why I did what I did to try and calm the storm down a bit.. Ive done mini races but never that went over the speed limit.. On an Interstate , maybe 50-80 runs with someone, but like I said , maybe thats why this felt so crazy at the time and seems to stupid to me now..

That being said, I have bought a helmet, got my car looked over, and will now be on the track 4 times this year! Cant wait!

be careful folks....street racing is not worth it....

Teen dead, 2 critical after Richmond street race

Quote:
(11-06) 15:37 PST RICHMOND -- A 17-year-old boy was killed early this morning when his friend's car slammed into his during an illegal race on a rain-slicked road in Richmond, police said.

Pablo Lopez-Jaime was pronounced dead after the crash on Richmond Parkway near Goodrick Avenue, said Lt. Bisa French, a police department spokeswoman.

Two of his passengers, an unidentified male and a female, were flown to a hospital in critical condition.

French said Lopez-Jaime had been racing his BMW against a friend, 21-year-old Israel Gomez, at about 1:15 a.m. Gomez lost control of the Nissan Altima he was driving and struck Jaime's BMW, which flipped over multiple times and hit a pole before going down into a ditch, French said.

Gomez, who was not seriously injured, initially told police the accident had been caused by a third car, but later admitted he and Lopez-Jaime had been racing, French said. Gomez was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Call me morbid and insensitive, but I'm curious as well (since it was facing off against an Altima )

I'm sure we could find our answer if we looked long enough in one of the BMW forums. Quite a few of those guys couldn't resist a racing story, regardless of the outcome. A written story in a newspaper? Even better.
