iam making this thread for all the discussions regarding the movie rockstar and its blu ray disk

My verdict on movie:
the movie was AMAZING! easily my favorite movie of this year and a good film after a long while! amazing direction and screenplay by imtiaz ali and superb acting by ranbir kapoor and a big bow to MR AR RAHMAN ...he again proves that he is miles ahead of any music composer of our times.... amazing music and background score

my verdict 4.0/5

gr8 movie that touches the heart!

imtiaz ali again proves himself after jab we met and love aaj kal!

I watched it on day 11.11.11 and have to agree in most part with divyansh . More than anything else, despite its minuses like being heavily dragged and abstract at times, I am quite impressed by the fact that the movie experience feels like made by someone, who has complete understanding of filmmaking and knows how to use audio visual elements to tell a story in a novel manner. The movie triggers the analytical mind of any audience who is even remotely interested to find out how difficult a transition from script to screen can be - its all there in this film. Donno about anyone but made me think a lot about how difficult it is sometimes to capture the simplest of emotions right on camera. Its not for everyone and so not to mention it wont be a moneyspinner but completely a material of international standards.

@Ani, if u r reading this, this is the one u surely need to watch to feel the growth and maturity of indian cinema. By far the most intense and intriguing movie i have seen this year. The only quibble, the actress' performance which is the only thing that might bring the film down for some.

Oh and btw, speaking about the blu ray thing, yup this film delivered a truly fantastic 2k digital projection, colours, contrast and sharpness were rendered with precision. and will be a treat to have in HD except that it ll be by zEROS whose ZNMD is yet to come and might tell us what to expect for others like RK.

@Anurag & Divyansh,

I am quite interested to see this one since I like Imtiaz's direction and way of storytelling. He is a good director but needs more refinement to bring out the best in his work. His execution is flat at times but he has a great talent in keeping you engaged in some form or other.

I will wait for the BD since I do not like going to cinema these days - it is really difficult to watch in peace.

I really worry about Imtiaz Ali's next work.
His next direction will be a Korean film remake.
But original one is just average rom-com flick.
It's up to his talent. Good luck Ali...

imtiaz and his wife are just producing the film....and he is not directing this remake of that korean flick.... BOSCO (of choreographers bosco-ceaser) will be directing this.

^^ yes even i was wondering while watching this movie that is it 7.1 coz i also was hearing discrete effects from the rear surrounds....

and guyz just wait for the blu-ray... its mix was gr8... truly reference stuff!

Divyansh, you beat me to the punch.... I was just going to write about Rockstar :-), i wholly agree with you. This movie was really good, despite the bad reviews i have read all over. The movie wa a journey of life. Ranbir handled his role with such maturity. Nargis is really beautiful, the make a good onscreen pair, just the euphoria of having another Raj-Nargis on screen made me warm. :-) , the best part of this movie is but of course the music by A. R. Rahman. I cant explain how he does it but Rahman has magic in his music, from the rustic Katiyan Karun to the devotional Kun Faya Kun to the romantic Tum Ko to the rocky Nadaan parinde, the music is food for the soul. It comes across so clearly on screen. Imtiaz Ali has a talent for good music, from Socha Na Tha right up to Rockstar, melodius music is served. I am just once again frightened and horrified that Eros is handling the dvd and blu ray.

I am pretty sure that some international company will also release the Blu-ray. Better to wait on that one.

no...since eros has its international rights....eros only would be releasing its blu-ray worldwide!

NO..not exactly.... zindagi na milegi dobara's blu-ray by eros is quite a looker...so if the source of rockstar is good....then hope its blu-ray to be gr8 too !

There is no info about its blu-ray but since EROS is behind it .. dont expect the blu ray to release soon
