Default Buying used speakers

Any advice on what I should be looking for or testing? I am going to look at a pair of used Energy speakers tomorrow and was looking for some advice (especially when checking the tweeters and woofers for condition/abuse) Thanks.

I've had good luck buying used speakers. As far as checking for abuse, it's difficult to say unless it's obvious like physical damage or blown speakers. If they are vintage, you get into problems like dried cone surrounds & gaskets and capacitors pasty their life expectancy. The best thing is if you can inspect and test them before buying.

+100 I've bought used speakers most of the time and I've had good success. Another thing to consider is replacement parts and if they are available. I love buying vintage speakers!

put your ear in front of EACH driver on both speakers to make sure all components are working.
so apparently 17 TB is just NOT enough storage for me..... LOL

If you're gentle about it, and ask first, I always push in lightly on the main drivers to see if I hear/feel any "scraping" which would indicate a blown coil. Walked away from more than one deal by doing that little test.
