ultraviolet i think is just their moniker for a digital copy, download only.

nekro i think yes maybe it was slightly cheaper, very thin!

As levcore said I think its a digital copy with no physical disk, just a code and you download the digital copy...cant say for sure as Ive not had one as yet - not that Id use it anyhow...lol

this was a blind buy for me, i really enjoyed it! The bridge sequence is absolutely jaw dropping and the overall PQ is amongst the best i've seen. Part 4 looked stunning too.

Was a blind buy for me too. Big fan of the series as are my parents (apart from part 4 which was Sh*t)
Really enjoyed it some of the death scenes were really good at making you cringe (the gymnast's and laser eye surgery). Bridge sequence was the best 'big disaster' since the second ones RTA.
Glad I got it now and liked how it linked in with the others.
I got it on pre-order from play and it arrived thursday (earliest preorder i've ever had I think.

Ultraviolet basically allows you to stream it. This means that it is not tied to one device. The downside is you need a wi-fi connection to use it and you don't get a proper digital copy. Also, I'm not sure how long you have until it is not available to stream. The code has to be redeemed by 25/12/2013, so a similar system as for digital copies

It has caused a lot of uproar amongst people, with some actually boycotting it because of the Ultraviolet. For me, the name is stupid. It doesn't really tell you what it is. At least you know what a digital copy is from the name

Other than the 3D version of the film, is there anything extra in the box for the 3D version? Additional extras or such?

Let me just get this straight. I downloaded the film through Ultraviolet and is now featured in this Flixster Collections folder. But you're saying that I can't actually get the physical video file. I normally back up my digital copies onto a portable hard drive. So I can't do the same to this?

Just to let you guys know it might be worth popping into your local HMV if you're interested in the steelbook. Mine has 3 or 4 going for £10. Thought that was pretty decent for a steelbook and not to mention in-store!
