You can chalk the cover of this up to a long list of utterly crap covers that are used here in Aus. |

I dont mind the cover either. Well any cover compared to the US cover is amazing. Eww trash. Well looks like I have another version to add to my Drive collection. I dont know exactly why I like this movie so much I just do.

I rewatched this film last night (first time since last year in theatres) and the quality seemed really great, but then I come on here and realised that the Aus version is only 25GB and the USA and UK ones are 50GB.
Pretty disappointed. I usually research the various releases before purchasing to avoid this sort of stuff. So is the quality on the Aus blu not as good as the UK and US ones? |

Its just a case of 'The grass is always greener on the other side'. If you had no issues with the AUS copy, dont bother yourself, I have been through the same with various releases, now I just accept what I can get and if I am happy with it, I dont bother trying to search for a 'superior' version.

There's nothing wrong with our release. Looks and sounds great. There are a few instances of banding but checking out the US review you can see that banding is mentioned there too.
Yes, a lower bitrate can sometimes result in an increased number of issues but in this case due to it only being a 100 min movie and it being fairly light on special features it's not really demanding as much of the disc space. --| Sale/Trade thread - Steels & regular Blus! ...big update April 23! |--

I said i wouldnt do it when Bond 50 came out well i caved i have my dvd set on ebay and will pick this up soon And i agree re: if your happy with it dont bother looking around for a better version, having said that my AUS copy of The Game seems to have average PQ so im entertaining the thought of picking up the US Criterion blu.... maybe Cheers V |

^ Different story there though - complete remaster for the Criterion release. Same digital files used to create the master for Drive though so the disparity should be minor (if any). On a 100" screen I didn't pick up tell-tale signs of a bandwidth-starved disc.

You guys are right. The quality of our copy of Drive is fantastic, and we got the lossless audio so I shouldn't complain. I guess it's just an OCD thing :P

Also I think a lot of movies don't even use up the entire 50GB, so there might even be some wasted space on the US disc |

Because it's the 2011 Ryan Gosling film, not the 1997 one...
