The attached caption was "F1 car of the future?" I think they need enclosed cockpits. Several drivers might still be alive today if they eliminated open cockpit racing.

I am opposed to this idea for a multitude of reasons. It's unfortunate that Dan Wheldon lost his life during an IndyCar race last season, but there were militating circumstances beyond his being in an open-wheeled vehicle. Formula One hasn't had a fatal accident since Senna's passing in 1994. Great strides have been made with the chassis and materials used since then, allowing drivers to walk away from severe crashes. Witness Kubica's accident in 2007 during the Montreal GP:


If anything, observers and professional drivers believe that the type of course (oval circuit) poses a greater danger to open-wheeled participants than the vehicles themselves.

New b-spec seasonal and a bunch of new cars in the online dealership
First race i used the renault turbo 5 to 399pp. Second race i used my 2000 mugen s2000 to 395pp and third race calsonic gt-r to 650pp. I had a harder time beating the first race then the other 2 haha.

PrivatePixel, I never mentioned Dan Wheldon in my post about closed cockpits. There are other circuits besides IndyCar and F1 like, Formula 2. You may want to Google Henry Surtees who didn't die on an oval but at Brands Hatch. Advocating open cockpits for fan enjoyment or some sense of historical sentiment is pretty callous when its not their life that may have been saved by that change. Just my opinion of course. And 2 time world champ Emerson Fittipaldi's. "The next step ahead for the future on safety is a canopy like they have in offshore racing and hydroplanes."

It's unfair to compare a Formula Two chassis with one produced by an F1 team (or IndyCar, or CART, or any other form of open-wheeled racing). It's not just how and what they're constructed with, but the safeguards adopted and how each vehicle responds in the event of a crash.

The way I see it, professional drivers know that there's an inherent risk with motorsports, regardless of whether it's open-wheeled or in a closed cockpit, i.e. there's always the chance of injury, or in a worse-case scenario, death. It comes with the territory. No matter how many precautions are taken, what safety measures are sanctioned by any governing body, accidents will happen, and no one knows the severity until after the fact; that's the nature of the beast. No one is naive enough to believe that motorsports will ever be 100% safe; even Emerson Fittipaldi can't dispute that.

1) citroen c4 coupe 2.0vts '05 (400pp)
2) bmw m3 coupe chrome line (500pp)
3) lamborghini aventador lp 700-4 '11 (650pp)

How did you win with the Aventador in the 3rd race? I was in 11th after the first lap. Tried another time with the ZR1 RM and got 2nd by 24s. I'll try again tomorrow when Vadka is not telling me what to do.
