Sounds like a handshake issue.

Mine does this as well. Not sure if it's a problem with the hdmi cable or my receiver. My 360 does not do this though.

Since you seem to have some knowledge about this, let me ask you:
I'm running the S570 through a Pioneer SC55 receiver and then to a Sony HX929 TV.
Regardless of whether I choose "original" or "fixed" on the 570, my 1.85 movies improperly play at 16:9 when the TV is set to "Full". If I set the TV to "Normal", it squeezes 1.85 BD movies to 4:3.
On 2.39:1 movies, I do see black bars, but I have a feeling I'm not seeing the whole picture.

And on the BD player, what does Sony mean by "Original" and "Fixed"? It would seem to me that "Original" would have been the correct setting for both DVDs and BDs if one wants them to play back at original A.R.

Thanks for your help.

I bet if both of you set your Deep Color setting to off it will fix the problem. Since Blu-ray discs are only 8-bit there is no need for 10, 12, or 16. I and other members had this problem and that fixed it. I haven't had a blackout since.

Thanks for the tip. Mine was at auto, I set it off, we'll see how it goes.

You can get this player at Sam's Club for 96.00. It will be the BX57 but it is the same player. I picked one up about a week ago and it has been great!!! You will have to do some searching for it in the warehouse because they have discontinued it. They just had two when I was there.

Very well sir; it does fix that issue with 2D Blu-rays, but consequently it also introduces a major issue when playing 3D Blu-rays!
Try it you'll see! ...The colors are all wrong, greenish, and the picture is all distorted! Just unwatchable!

_______________

Soooo, you have to manually adjust the HDMI Deep Color Out each time you change from 2D to 3D, or/and from 3D to 2D,
with all the Blu-rays.
Very annoying if you ask me. ...But thanks for at least resolving the issue with 2D Blu-ray movies.

_______________

Sony needs to solve this major issue, I think.
[You shouldn't have to readjust that setting each time you switch from 2D to 3D! OFF for 2D, and AUTO for 3D.]

Sorry to hear that man. So you think the deep color setting set at off is causing the weird color issue? I would check it but I don't have 3D display.

This might be a very silly question, but if you're using this with a non-3D tv is there an option in the blu-ray menu to turn 3D capability off? I would like to buy one for the other features it has but have no use for 3D. I do have one movie that has both 3D and 2D versions on the same disc and I have no idea if it will automatically select 3D if I am using a 3D player.

If you haven't figured it out already, there is a setting where you can turn 3D off.

This blu-ray format is not perfected just yet as you will find a forum on this website every day about this problem. Anyway every movie I have thrown at the SONY BD 570 has performed flawlessly and my machine is used daily. What scares me though is that all machines work great when they are new but after a few firmware updates "Which as far as I am concerned do more harm than good" and about 8 months to a year in age these machines start to show problems with reading certain disc and nobody can seem to figure out why. I still beleive Blu-ray is the only way but so far it seems that you have to own more than one player if you want to view every new Blu-ray release. Players I have owned, "Sony BD 300, SONY BD 350, Sony BD360, Panasonic DMP60, Panasonic DMP85, and the Sony BD 570. SO FAR THE SONY 570 IS THE BEST MACHINE I HAVE USED. THE PANNY DMP85 IS A GOOD MACHINE BUT IS NO COMPETITION UP NEXT TO THE SONY BD 570.
I have a BD-S500 and BD-S570, and my AMERICAN PSYCHO will not play in my new BD-S570! What gives?

The disc loads, the Lionsgate logo and score animate just fine, but then the screen goes black and the BD counter displays only dashed (- - - -) forever.

How can I watch this movie on my new BD-570? I have the latest firmware (M04.R.787)

Do you have your player set to "do not allow internet connection" for BD live? Also, make sure you have a memory stick inserted or have the player set to use it's own internal memory.

It is not even connectd to the Net. I do my firmware updates via Disc.
What do you mean, "make sure you have a memory stick inserted or have the player set to use it's own internal memory"?

update: I checked my settings, and even though I'm not online with it, its set to "Do Not Allow".
update: I checked the settings, and "Use Internal Memory" is "on"

My updated question is, can I just plug my portable USB drive (the 4gb drive on my keychain) into the slot on the front as the "memory stick" you speak of?

I am hoping someone on this thread maybe able to help me.

I purchase a S570 from the US (I am in Australia) with DVD free & Blue Ray chipped for region free.

I did one firmware upgrade no problem but on the last firmware upgrade (M04.R.787) I lost the ability to have region free blu ray (it is now locked to Region A)

Has anyone else experienced this problem and secondly is it possible to go back to the previous firmware?

Cheers

That depends on the "noise". All drives, any drive, will make some sort of sound, quirbble, load, or spin sound.

Just like ya can't have light without heat, ya cant have drive movement without sound.

How loud was this sound?
