For me and my girlfriend, we didn't see any WOW factors either when it came to pop-out 3D eye candy, but all in all, it was a good movie to kick back and enjoy. It's a keeper, for sure...

Rio has very good PQ, but 3D that tends to be on the tame side. It's sharp and colourful, but as others have noted, it's more about the depth with this title. When combined with the 2.35:1 aspect ratio, however, it doesn't make it an immersive title. I just don't think Blue Sky Studios really exploit the full spectrum of 3D, neither on Ice Age 3, nor Rio. It's worth seeing all the same though.

Watched this last night .. owned it for ages but only playing Angry Birds Rio reminded me to actually watch it!
![]() Well, good and not so good in my opinion. The animation and story were terrific! The movement and physics of the birds were so well animated it was gobsmacking at times. The 3D was nice, not great, but nice. I am afraid that unless you have a wall full of TV screen the 2.35:1 AR just really doesn't work for home viewing 3D. It really is a shame, cos' I could really really see just how great some of the 3D imagery really should have been. Nice film, but not one for repeated viewings. It's a shame that Blue Sky didn't shoot in 1.85:1 like they did with Ice Age 3.

How did you get them to take the coupon. I went in today and they PM the movie but when they applied the coupon the register would not take it. The CSR would not over ride it so I passed on it.

Watched this fully last night on the PJ and was pleasently surpised, the 3D is decent enough and it's an enjoyable film. The colours are so vivid and it's a bright looking movie which really helps the dimensionality.
Of course, it's more a depth film that a pop-out film, though there are a few moments of low to medium pop-out, mainly involving beaks. Still, the flying shots worked quite well I thought. I didn't even mind the 2.35:1 framing for once. All in all, I thought this was better than Blue Sky's previous effort in terms of 3D (Ice Age 3).

Have any of you noticed that this movie plays out of synch on some blu-ray players? Not sure if it`s just this title, if it`s 20th Century Fox titles in general, or something else. I have latest Firmware on the Sony BDP-S590 Blu-ray player and on the TV LG 55LM6200. When pausing this movie, and also Voyage of the Dawn Treader - another 20th Century Fox title - I notice that the left and right images which produce the 3D effect are out of synch. They are on different frames of the movie.

I think it is a solid movie to own if you have kids. If you don't, it is one you would probably see or pass on.

I contacted Sony notifying them that this movie, Rio 3D, does not work properly on the latest firmware of their BDP-S590 player. They will need to do a firmware update, just like LG did to correct the out of synch left and right frames which produce the 3D effect.

There is a a very nice song towards the end of the movie sung by Jamie Foxx. It's when they are riding on the top of the street car. The lossless audio takes the song to another level. I'm not buying the lossy sound track cause I'd be disappointed. I really didn't care for the movie but I'd like to have it just to hear the portion of that song. To bad they didn't include the whole song.

Surprised by all of the so so or bad reviews for this. Just saw the sample clip from the ice age continental drift 3d blu and the scene with the hand glider looked really good. Was considering picking this up for 19.99 at BB but now not so sure.

This was the first 3D Blu I owned last year and I watched it something like ten times that week. Thought it was excellent! Haven't watched it on my new projector yet.

I payed $19.99 Cdn for the 3D combo pack with slip cover at Best Buy a week ago today. Sad to say that the 2D copy has stuttering problems. While the audio plays fine, the video doesn't. It'd freeze every few seconds that immediately catch up. And it'd occur again and again, ruining the movie experience. Went into the first 10 minutes and stopped there.
I'm also upset to have thrown away the receipt EDIT: so after a little research, it seems that I'm not the only one. I played this on my slim PS3 as others playing it on PS3 / Sony Blu-Ray. This is really upsetting - will Universal address this at all? Or Sony? EDIT: Never mind. Turned off internet connection and it WORKS.
