Picked up Queen's Blade 1 & 2 for $30 each from the Media blasters booth; not amazing prices, but $60 for the series compared to about $64 on Amazon presently, I'll save that $4 and get it instantly.

Picked up a few mangas (Furture Diary Vol. 7, Black Cat Vol. 5 and 6) B2G1 free. Got quite a few prints from some cool new artists I met and just chatted with from Gurren Lagaan and Adventure Time (not Anime, I know, but still an awesome cartoon!)

And got a replica Death Note, two Death Note 4" figures of Light and Near and a mini statue of Kaneda from Angel Beats in Hand Sonic mode. I wanted and saw a statue of Marikawa Shizuka from HOTD (favorite character from the show) there, but the price was steep, albeit not by much compared to eBay ($145), and when I put it back, immediately a guy grabbed it, said 'Thanks,' and bought it on the spot. Guess he helped my wallet some! Lol.

Really cool to meet Rojas from Funimation at their booth and chat with him for a few minutes; he is the one with long hair that holds interviews with people on YouTube, recently they did a piece on the music of Summer Wars.

When I talked to him, I asked about when Black Lagoon might see it's way in the USA, and he said they have all the legal documents signed and everything, they're just waiting on the material to be sent to them; he said the tsunami affected a LOT of warehouses that had those prints or digital shows and delayed some releases. I asked since Neo magazine reported Black Lagoon will be on Blu-ray in the UK in May of this year, and he kind of just shrugged it off like some other part of Funimation might handle that and he wouldn't want to say anything that he didn't know.

All around, Rojas was a really cool guy, easy to talk to and informative, and said on the subject of the new BD-sized combo packs, they're just testing the waters on which format sells better, so sales would dictate if they continue the BD/DVD combos in a BD-sized, or if sold poorly, will go back to the DVD-sized cases (I'm buying the BD-sized ones!).

I didn't end up buying anything at the booth, mainly because no early leaks were out, and the prices were SRP, complete BD/DVD packs being $50+ when Amazon would have them currently or for Pre-Order at ~$40. Still, glad I checked them out and got to talk to a really cool guy.

I'm definitely going back next year, and going to Metrocon in Tampa later this June!
Thanks so much for sharing your Metrocon experience! Awesome little tidbits of info, again thanks for taking the time to post!

I went to Metrocon today also. Didnt see any anime at prices I couldnt resist buying but did see Baccano on sale at one of the vendors for $69.99 so all hope is not lost for those of you still hoping to get a copy at a decent price. Some of the vendors were also breaking street date for some of the titles due to be released later in the month but I'd prefer to wait two weeks then pay $20.00 more then it'll be on sale for elsewhere. The best deals were on Manga and I picked up one title I've been after for a while at a decent price so Im happy. I also picked up some Baka and Test keychains that made me laugh.

Metrocon is June 15-17 later this year, but only saying; I knew you meant Megacon. This was only my second one, and I talked to a customer today about it and he said that Anime started taking over Megacon which used to be a balanced convention of Anime, Fantasy stuff and comics. Not a bad thing at all, IMO.

I didn't notice anything out early, although I did tag along friends and was rushed a bit to not get lost from the pack, and would have been on the same boat unless it was something as major as Death Note on Blu, lol.

Both seasons will be in the slipbox. I don't need a DVD sized slipcover. I'm done collecting those.

Speaking of Sengoku Basara.... I've heard a lot of good things about it. I decided to go get season 1 & 2 today. Well, I went to go get them and the store had.... Season 1, Season 2, and the Complete Series.

Does the complete series have both season 1 and 2 or what? I read the case for 10 minutes trying to figure out but it didn't mention a thing at all.

Yeah. It's a good thing that some of the japanese episodes are on Youtube. That really sucks when something is only available for a limited time (*cough* disney *cough*) and then it's gone for a long time.
BTW, I used to love anime, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SENTAI FILMWORKS LICENSES
“K-ON! Season 2”

HOUSTON, February 20, 2012— Sentai Filmworks is delighted to announce the licensing of K-ON! Season 2, the continuing exploits of the Light Music Club of Sakuragaoka Girl’s High. The creative staff from K-ON! returns for another 26 episodes plus an OVA of a rocking good time, featuring character designs by Yukiko Horiguchi (Lucky Star) and music by Hajime Hyakkoku (Ichigo 100%). On top of their proven performance, Sentai Filmworks’ release will feature an electric dub by Bang Zoom! Entertainment.

For two full years, Yui, Mio, Ritsu and Tsumugi have worked together to keep Sakuragaoka Girl's High School's struggling Light Music Club alive, and along the way they’ve begun to build a reputation as real rock musicians, especially since the previous year’s addition of underclassman rhythm guitarist Azusa!! But as a new school year begins, there are new and scary challenges ahead. With four fifths of the club graduating at the end of the year, replacement members have to be recruited. There are college exams to prepare for. There are colleges to choose. And there are friends to prepare to say goodbye to. But no matter what happens, they’ll have their faculty adviser and secret former Death Metal guitar/vocalist Sawako Yamada there to help them in her own unusual way, especially since she’s now their homeroom teacher as well!! And most of all, they’ll have each other. Because the group of amateur musicians who barely knew each other has become much more than just a band, and by the time this school year is over, they’re going to achieve something so amazing it requires multiple exclamation marks!! Get ready to be blown away as the girls from K-ON! rock on!!

K-ON! Season 2 will be available on DVD & BD later this year.

Well, that's interesting. Anyone care to guess as to whether or not the dub cast will return?

I see it's the same company that dubbed the first season.
There was a SIG here.
It's gone now.

It would be pretty amazing if Sentai could get the rights to season 1 and release that with lossless audio! Bandai's release of season 1 of K-ON! was plagued with lossy audio, both on the English and Japanese tracks. That's the whole reason I haven't even bothered buying any of the other volumes besides volume 1.

Just to be clear, what Sentai has licensed is Fate/stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works, not the Fate/stay Night TV series. Unlimited Blade Works is a movie and diverges from what's seen in TV series. That doesn't mean Sentai won't license the TV series also at some point, I'd love to upgrade to BR, but we'll have to wait and see on that. I'd still recommend picking up Unlimited Blade Works though if you're a fan of the franchise, or even if you're not.

The reason Sentai was able to license season 2 of K-ON! (K-ON!!) was because Bandai only had the license to the first season. As far as I know, Bandai still has the license to both Gundam 00 and Code Geass.

Well they might use the same dub cast. Like for instance, when ADV Films released Ah! My Goddess: Flights of Fancy, they used the same dub cast that Media Blasters used.

Did Akira finally go OOP on Blu-ray? I know it's been a kind of high price from Amazon at about $35, but now they don't have it, and the cheapest used from third-party sellers is $79.99!!
