Anyway, it was nice to see TPM in a movie theater again, and the film starts off great with a nice 3D effect of the opening crawl. Then...the rest of the movie happens. The 3D adds little to nothing to the overall effect of the film. In way, it actually detracts from it as things appears WAAAAY too dark more often than not. The lightsabers are sort of a blurry mess too. Some scenes do have some nice depth to them, but that is really all the 3D offers. The added depth is subtle and really, you can watch it with the glasses off and probably enjoy it more (the 3D glasses make the film VERY dark, I cannot emphasis that enough). Taking them off was literally like night and day...lol.

Anyway, to anyone who is on the fence about this, my advice... stay home and watch your blu ray. Or catch a 2D presentation if available. The 3D is not worth your money. I am pretty sure this will make me 'out' for all of the remaining SW films in 3D unless they really bump up the brightness.
I wish Lucasfilm would do what Bay did with the Transformers: Dark of the Moon RealD 3-D 'prints'. He purposely made the picture WAY too bright, so that it compensated for the decrease in brightness by projecting through 2 lenses, as well as the extra dimming effect of the 3-D glasses. It was so bright it made it painful to watch without the 3-D glasses on. But with the glasses on, the picture was absolutely perfect. It looked bright, crisp, vibrant, exactly what i would expect out of a modern effects spectacle. Why can't others learn from the Bay? As 3-D presentations go, anyway, i won't get into the quality of his actual filmmaking, or lack thereof.

I haven't had much problems with the few 3d films I've seen. But since I heard that brightness complaint from others I said to myself - ok so why can't they just make the prints brighter?

Glad to see Bay did it and it worked.

I think people have posted that a lot of the times it's the theatres adjusting the brightness down to prolong the life of the bulb in their projectors.

Did they really not include the Theatrical Trailers for any of these films on here? I like having the films on Blu, but I was already somewhat let down by them not including the Star Wars: Empire of Dreams A&E documentary from the DVD trilogy. So are the trailers nowhere on the Blus?

The clone wars on cartoon net starts a 4 episode arc tonite that will end the season.

Darth Maul makes his comeback in it....should be interesting to see how they put him back together again.

It is supposedly really him, which is utterly absurd even in the Star Wars universe. That said...I'm game and will tune in! lol

Not really that absurd, especially since he now reportedly

If you think about it, both Darth Vader and General Grievous both survived near-death experiences and were brought "back" with some kind of life-sustaining technology.

He was literally cut in two though, mechanical legs are one thing but....

He'd need some serious repairs!
