If anyone else is having a problem with their BDP-83 playing Contagion just post a message here. I found the fix on another website, (downloaded and installed latest firmware beta). Happy to find the link and post it here if it would help anyone else.

I think I may actually have had issues loading the DVD version of Contagion...but it may have been another title...

Anyone having problems with these Blu-Rays loading? I've got the latest firmware, BD Live off and did an erase of BD movie data and they still won't load. The player recognizes them as BDMV, then the screen on the player goes to all zeroes, the tv shows the play icon for a second, and then it shows a screen on the tv from either disc that makes you think it's loading but the screen just goes black. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for replies.

stingo, SiL went through the same thing on my player but loaded shortly after the screen went black (for the second time) after the BD loading screen went away. However, it's also important to note that I have the current, not the beta, firmware installed on my player.

I was told by Oppo to have the beta version installed when trying this, so that's what I did. I think I also tried it with the current official firmware (before the beta) but that didn't go either. Will try it and leave it on to see if anything happens. Thanks for the help.
Edited to add: I tried the stable firmware and the beta and there's no joy. For SIL, it displays the loading line for about a second then the screen goes black. For Raging Bull, it displays the warning against copying I think it is for about a second, then goes black. Eventually the disc stops spinning in both cases, leaving the screen black. Further edited to add: Both titles play perfectly on my PS3 - which I can't use because the optical inputs on my receiver don't seem to work anymore. Last edited by stingo; 02-28-2012 at 04:16 AM. |

I saw another user that posted in the Hugo thread was having some problems, and was curious....
Has anyone had any problems with the BDP83 playing/reading the Hugo BD? |

I'd suggest if anyone is having this issue to just wait patiently and give it a chance, this disc takes seemingly longer than any other BD I have in order for the Oppo to load it. |

I tried the waiting game with both discs I mentioned but no such luck. Oppo wrote me to request my sending the discs to them so they could test them for compatibility.
Edited to Add: The Comancheros and Tora! Tora! Tora! won't load either. *sigh* Last edited by stingo; 02-29-2012 at 01:37 AM. |

from there it went to the hugo load screen menu and i selected play and it played right away with no hesitation or problems. i have the latest firmware for the public but not the latest beta released. i'll gather it's either your disc, (probably the least likely) your player firmware, your bd-live storage or your internet connection that's causing the problem. hope this helped.

Oh, sorry about that! Yeah, I have the 83, but the problem that another user posted about was in the 93. I had the issue of it seemingly being stuck at 0 00:00:00 but after a couple minutes, it did load fine and played perfectly and went on to the menu. |

i did have the latest firmware installed but i knew there was a beta available; so i downloaded and installed it via usb. i did not reset the machine nor did i clear the 4gb usb i have for bd-live use. the first thing i noticed was the internet preview was of a different movie than what was shown first with the old firmware or what was shown on the 83 (gave the same internet previews). after the previews finished, it went immediately to the movie home/splash page and played perfectly after that. i do suspect it's a bd-live issue that was resolved in the firmware beta update. hope this helped. i will put a link to this in the 93 thread for just in case.

Has Oppo found a remedy for the Jurassic Park clipping problems???
I basically can't watch these movies, as I use analog outs, have no other options, and the clipping is really bad. I guess most people use HDMI for audio nowadays, so they don't mind, or me it's a real bummer, and the JP trilogy is the only 7.1. DTS-HD MA track I have ever had problems with. |
