So interesting to me that I've had the exact same experience with my BDT350. Still on original 1.3 fw because I know that later firmware further compromises the ability to calibrate the player for proper onboard multichannel DTS HD-MA and Dolby TrueHD playback via the analog 7.1 outs. Knock on wood, I've yet to have playback issues. It even played the notoriously problematic Keeping Score - Mahler: Origins and Legacy BD that my (one model year younger) Sony BDP-S470 would not.
