Wanting to order the Canadian release of Blade, I later learned that its original aspect ratio was cropped big time. I thought it was the only Blu-ray release available, until I saw that there is a Dutch version with the correct aspect ratio. The disc, like the Canada release, is 5.1 DTS-HD MA, and the Dutch subtitles are removable. So I went ahead and ordered it today.





Do any of you guys own this one? If so how's the PQ and sound?

I just have the DVD of all three movies. But we really enjoy the series.

That's awesome. I love that movie. Been wanting it for years, but avoided the Canadian release because of the aspect ratio. Let us know what the AQ and PQ is like, I may order it.

On another note, I just got back for the harbor, bought more live shrimp for the rest of the jambalaya. Something so yummy watching those guys swimming around in the tank knowing soon they will be seasoned, seared and eaten. Will cook around 7:00, waiting for wife to come home.

Got to the shrimp earlier than last time. After I peeled the shrimp, left heads and tails on again, some of the front feet and antennas were still wiggling. Kinda scary because they were also deveined and cut down the back. But forgot it shortly after the first bite. Mmmmm, fresh!

I hope this Dutch release of Blade is good. At least the company that released it over there didn't mess with the aspect ratio. Once I get it I'll post my impressions of it.

Even fresher shrimp, yum! I am definitely gonna have to make some Jambalaya soon!

May go back and pick up some other seafood this weekend. Some clams with garlic will be nice and not sure what else.

From one of my fave restaurants. It's easier than making it at home.

Started off with the chef specialty hot & sour soup. Now I'm a bit of a hot & sour soup aficionado, and this is one of, if not the best, hot & sour soup I've ever had. Followed by some shrimp Pad Thai. That's a plate of love, right there. So good.

I tell ya, I LOVE seafood! Lobster, shrimp, clams, tuna, etc. Here in the Southwest I can't get it really fresh like you can over there. But I'll definitely do what I can with the best I can get. Clams with garlic sounds good.

Last weekend I didn't get around to making those double decker green chili cheeseburgers like I wanted, but that is definitely on the menu for Saturday. On Sunday I plan on making some home made strawberry shortcake.

Well it looks like I finally have an early MSRP on that LG 84" 4k TV. According to a guy at AVS who works in the TV sales business, he got an early master list of TV's due out this year. In this list the MSRP and expected release date is listed. So how much? $9,999, which is what I was kind of expecting (at the lower end of the pricing spectrum that is). So for me this is great news! And the expected release date is the first week of October.

That seems like such a long wait, I was hoping for a June/July release. But at least it seems quite likely that the TV is indeed going to get released this year. So here's hoping that my 70" Sony hangs in there for the next eight months.

I'm a huge fan of the Chinese food. I find hot & sour soup is hit or miss. It all depends on the chef. I've been to several Chinese restaurants. Sometimes I go back, other times it's one and done.

Yeah I have to say that I have been pretty patient. I've been wanting to get a new TV for about 2 years now, but nothing that I wanted ever materialized. This time it looks like just "maybe" my dream display will become a reality.

84" of full 1080p passive 3D bliss! Here's hoping that LG doesn't switch gears at the last minute and delay this TV.

Very cool on your order of Judge Dredd. Re the Blade Blu-ray, I got mine from a seller on eBay, but he only had one for sale. I got it for $21 + shipping. I didn't realize just how "rare" the Dutch Blu-ray of Blade is. I did a web search and I couldn't find one place that has it for sale. I wonder if this title is now out of print?

Actually I haven't received it yet. I expect I'll get in about a week or so. But as soon as I do get it I'll be watching it right away.

I'll keep an eye out for another one if it happens to show up for sale.

While on the subject of imports, I ordered a few more yesterday, Sahara and In Good Company.





I know that Sahara on Blu-ray is available in the US, but the US version is lossy DD 5.1 and DTS 5.1. This German edition is DTS-HD MA 5.1. As to how much better it is than the lossy DD and DTS I don't know, but I'm looking forward to finding out.
