Nickleback is blowing up and dropping album after album, too -- it doesn't mean they're good.

Default Jon Chu speaks....

Well, I have to say that based on scenes from the trailers (e.g. no lips on Snake Eyes, a real Cobra Commander) this movie already looks as if it will be far better than G.I. Joke 1: The Punch Line.

Jon Chu gave an interesting interview and "attempts" to explain why Retaliation will be better than its crappy predecessor.

Quote:
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is not in this movie. Under the mask, is this the same character that Levitt played?
No. [Smiling] But we figured out a way that's pretty nice. And you get the Cobra Commander that you've always wanted. Or, to me, what I always wanted: a bad-ass villain. He's one of the most iconic villains ever. I'm even following him on Twitter -- he's so funny.

Was that one of your first commands as director? "Cobra Commander has to look like Cobra Commander." Yeah, definitely, no doubt. That and no lips on Snake Eyes. And no laser guns. And as much real, physical stunts as we can. I don't want to shoot on a green screen. Of course we had to do some green screen, but, for the most part, we got to shoot a lot of practical stunts.

The president isn't alive, that's Zartan impersonating the president.

If there is one hostage to have in case of an emergency, it would be the US president. It actually makes no sense to kill him off when he's more valuable kept alive.

You missed the clip of Zartan sitting next to the president.

I'm very anxious to see this one. I like the first one, but this looks like it will be considerably better.

Without a Wayans brother....this movie might actually be alright. I did like the first one but didn't love it...what I did love was Baronness...

I did like the first one at first because I wasnt expecting much out of it but the corny G.I. Joe cartoon in live action. I tried to rewatch it recently and it was just horrid.

I was just wondering what the latest is on this movie? I heard that it has been pushed back but don't know the details. If anyone can shed some light that will be greatly appreciated!

everything got lost with the crash but it got delayed for a number of reasons, #1 reason probably would be they were afraid of getting squished by Spidey

They say it was pushed to convert it to craptacular 3D, and is set to have it's theatrical debut in March of next year now.

Another, and more plausible reason for it's delay is reshoots. To add in more Channing Tatum to the movie as he has become quite a big draw for audiences it seems, and apparently they kill his character off in the first few minutes of the movie, so they want to add his character back in, and use him as a selling feature for it.

I had no idea this had been pushed back. Was looking forward to it coming out this summer. Oh well, Batman & Spiderman will do in the meantime!

Old news, but, for what it's worth...since we lost a couple of months around here.

Quote:
Audience desire to worship at the altar of Channing Tatum is now impacting a studio's bottom line.

The official reason for the announced delay last week of "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" by a full nine months was that it gave Paramount the time it needed to give the film a proper 3D conversion (including some additional shooting of scenes to really utilise the format).

Now though, Deadline reports there was another reason - the "21 Jump Street" star himself and his growing appeal.

SPOILERS AHEAD

[Show spoiler]Perhaps the single worst kept secret of any film this year is that Tatum's Duke character, the main hero of the first film, gets killed at the start of 'Retaliation'. It seems the death is so abrupt that it did not go over well with test audiences, while the studio itself only recently realised the power of 'The Tatum' and his rise to prominence in recent months. Their source says:

In our first screening of the film the reaction from audiences was good but with two big concerns: 1) They didn't like the fact that Channing and The Rock really didn't have any time to develop a friendship before Channing died, and 2) Why wasn't it going to be in 3D?

We went back and shot another week with Channing to develop more of his story with The Rock, which made the film play much better. But we didn't have the time to be in 3D."
