JoBlo is showing a DVD & Blu-ray release date of April 3 for 'The Artist'!
http://www.joblo.com/blu-rays-dvds/r...pril&year=2012 Not sure if this is a new date, or an old date that hasn't been updated. Mark |

I don't know how reliable this is, but Amazon.ca still has a pre-order page up, with a release of April 24th:

Guys, since the movie was shot at 22fps, will the BDs be able to reproduce that?
or is the standard for these movies to be shot at a lower frame-rate and then projected in 24fps? I'm confused

Yes, 'The Artist' was filmed at 22 fps but it was projected at 24 fps. Thus, the conversion to home video shouldn't be any more (or less) difficult than converting any other 24 fps movie.
BTW, Bill Hunt at the Digital Bits noted in his comments yesterday that we should have an official announcement on the release date for 'The Artist' within a few days. Mark |

'The Artist' has made it onto IMDB's list of the top 250 movies of all time (as rated by IMDB members). It currently sits at number 116 (and will almost certainly climb higher).

Personally I love the movie and as I've stated before it is now tied for my all time fave with The NeverEnding Story. I realize this film may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I wish these naysayers would try watching it first. I give a movie at least a half an hour before deciding whether or not I like it.
"If we're about to die anyways, I'd rather die fighting! Come for me Gmork, I am Atreyu!"
"And use some of that cologne Gertrude got you for Christmas." "Oh do I have to Mother, it smells like ether?" "With pleasure." |

End of the week and we still don't have an official street date for 'The Artist'. That's disappointing.
It's playing on more screens than ever here in San Diego (11 screens). I hope that doesn't mean the Blu-ray will be delayed beyond April. I'm really looking forward to showing this in the Booth Bijou Garage Theater! Mark |

One of the worst movies of last year IMO. HUGO was such a better homage to silent film.
First thing I remember thinking though when I saw this early in its theatrical run was I wonder what the Blu-ray will look like since it is 1:33 |

Some people seem to hate The Artist. I guess the gap between its style and the mainstream movies they used to watch is too big. They, IMHO, treat the movie as a slap to their taste. At least it's not just a "like/dislike" reaction.
