I think the Pythons knew there would be a group that just wouldn't like the movie; hence, the "Subtitles for People Who Do Not Like the Film (From Henry IV pt. 11)" feature found under Languages.

I received my copy Friday and watched it today. I never watched the movie before and I really enjoyed it. Also, the transfer is pretty good. I'd give it 4/5 for the Video quality considering the movie was made in the 70's.
However at one point in the movie (at around 62 minutes more precisely) there is a flaw as two consecutive shots haven't been remastered at all. These two shots last for about 30 seconds together so it isn't a big deal. |

How does the DVD look due to the difference in PAL and NTSC?

But a Blu-Ray would take up so much less space and have less artifacting and stuff... I also hate the menus on the DVDs and the way they spread the special features out. But yes, they are still very much worth owning.

I'd still buy a BD set if it meant less discs and it if wasn't more than 10-15% more than the DVD set.

This was a film that I first saw in the theater in NYC when it was first released. And on a HUGE screen to boot. I also had the pleasure of getting a complimentary coconut and meeting/getting an autograph from Terry Jones, who was at the theater promoting the film.
It's an acquired taste and humor is a relative thing. Seeing it for the very first time as I did, we were pissing our pants. We were all Python fans from having seen the series on Channel 13 (PBS) in NYC, when it first ran in the US in the early 70's. I've got the last DVD version that came out and will likely buy the blu at Best Buy for $12.99 later today.
