But anyways, did Bird actually say that it will be 2.4:1 all the way on the Blu-ray, he just said it wouldn't replicate the IMAX experience, which make sense as no one has a home theatre with a screen as big as an IMAX screen. So, I'm hoping.

You don't need an IMAX screen to enjoy scenes shot in IMAX.

Obviously an IMAX set up would make a big difference over my 58" Panny plasma, but that's not to say that were these scenes included they wouldn't make a difference...because they most certainly would. Which is why so many are a little put off by this decision.

No it doesn't make sense. You don't need an IMAX screen in your home to enjoy the scenes. It has the same effect. When you watch a movie that has IMAX scenes, like TF2, in 2.35; then the image opens up, it really gives it a big open feel. The forest fight is a perfect example. Plus you get the added resolution from being filmed that way.

And just so you know, if you really want to get technical, nobody's theater at home replicates the movie theater experience, IMAX or regular, as far as size since no one has screens as big as a theater. Not even projector owners. If what brad bird says is true, then we shouldn't haveany films for home release since they don't "approximate the movie theater experience."

Totally agree, having it open up makes the film seem bigger, no matter the size of your screen at home. Especially when you see how it slowly moved from 2.39:1 to 1.44:1 at the tower scene (instead of an abrupt change as TDK or TF2 does).
What I think it sounds like is that Bird wants people to see it in an IMAX theatre with 200 other people and a giant 6 storey screen as opposed to watching it with 2 or 3 other people on a 40 inch screen. I personally think a big movie like this looks great on a theatre screen and looks just as good at home, no matter what your setup is like. I just haven't read anything from him (or even Paramount) that said 2.39:1 only or 2.39:1/1.78:1 shifting. (Is it just me or does Paramount seem to like keeping their AR info a secret, when every other studio lists it wherever they can. What's the deal?)

I'm almost positive the reason we don't have an IMAX version is that they do not want a second version for people to argue about.

Well it seems BB thinks IMAX scenes at home is useless. Here is his replies to my tweet-
