I'm almost positive the reason we don't have an IMAX version is that they do not want a second version for people to argue about.

Well it seems BB thinks IMAX scenes at home is useless. Here is his replies to my tweet-

@BradBirdA113 Other movies like The Dark Night and Transformers 2 had IMAX scenes. It works just as good in the home. Make it happen.

Brad bird- I don't think so. But that's me.

Brad bird- the aspect ratio change viewed the way most people at home do (NOT filling their field of view) is not remotely like an IMAX theater
Wow. Completely disagree.

Okay Brad, how about you just make it available and let the people who have spent thousands on their HT setups be the decision makers.
Sorry, but I don't like is reasoning(or lack thereof) one bit.

I agree with you to the point it is a cheap move to not release the IMAX version at launch (if at all, looking at his replies), but to say that is almost ignorant, given the film itself, IMAX or not, was a real blast.

u mad bro?

The movie is awesome AND I highly doubt they'll ever come out with the "IMAX-friendly version" that you desperately want.

I must be the only one who's excited to get this movie, period. I didn't see it in IMAX to begin with. I saw it on a regular theater screen. The movie was still a VERY intense experience. My hands were literally sweating at different points throughout the film, mainly the Dubai hotel-scaling scene. So, with that being said, I just want the movie on BD. I could give a **** about shifting aspect ratios. As long as there aren't any fatal flaws with the disc. Don't get me wrong, I love TRON: Legacy and TDK's transfers, with their shifting ARs (I own the regular versuion of Transformers RotF), but it is in no way a dealbreaker if they decide to keep it 2.39:1 throughtout the entire film. That's the only way I've seen it thus far, so it won't make a difference. Brad Bird is one hell of a filmmaker, and he's saying that the BD is the way that HE intended us to see it. So I don't quite get the hostility towards him. And I thought I was a cynic...
Top 20: 1. The Dark Knight 2. The Shawshank Redemption 3. Pulp Fiction 4. The Empire Strikes Back 5. The Departed 6. The Lord of the Rings 7. No Country For Old Men 8. The Lion King 9. District 9 10. Saving Private Ryan 11. Casino Royale 12. Superbad 13. Jaws 14. Vertigo 15. Children of Men 16. The Iron Giant 17. Traffic 18. Jurassic Park 19. Alien 20. The Cove

AAHHH!!! I just hope it'll be just as immersive and fun on the smaller screen. Everything that happened above and on Dubai has got to be one of the best action sequences ever, very exited to see another Brad Bird live action.

I never slighted the movie in any way...only the decision making that went on for it's release. More to the point, how it was going to be released. Mr.Bird's comments don't do him any justice, imo.

I sure am....bro.

As I just stated, I never faulted the movie...just the director's decision to shoot a movie a certain way for theatre audiences, then not give the home viewing audiences the same opitions.

That's all....bro.

Wow. Talk about missing the point. Yes, the 1.43 IMAX image becomes 1.85 (or 1.78 to be precise) for the home version, but the overall effect is retained and can look VERY impressive depending on how big your screen is.

Sounds like he's getting very sniffy about the IMAX footage not being presented exactly as he filmed it, and on the face of it you could say "okay, fair enough", but it's only gonna be cropped to 2.35 for the Blu-ray (as per the regular theatrical presentation) anyway!
