Cool. How did you do it? By USB Flash Drive or Ethernet?

By CD. I have found this method the best with the old 1500.

I was also offered an update yesterday (hadn't used the Player for months) and I did it over Ethernet.

Does anybody know about any new features? I did not notice any and I was also unable to find a Changelog.

Glad to hear that ethernet is working. I've been unsuccessful with updates via ethernet for quite a while. The last 2 updates I did were by usb.

I never found the ethernet updates to work in the past, so for the last few updates I used the CD method which worked smoothly.

Has anyone had any issues with the new firmware 3.1. I have been very suprised, but the old sammy works better than it ever did.

Successfully updated to ver. 3.1 earlier & immediately tried out a couple of BDs that had problems with ver. 3.0 - Planet Of The Apes & Sherlock Holmes. Lo & behold, no more freezing problems with "Apes" & no more lipsynch issues with "Sherlock"!

Does anyone have DVD playback problems like I have and have any fixes?

Here's the setup samsung 1500 to onkyo 706 to a samsung TV via HDMI.

I'm playing a custom made DVD burned to a DVD-R.

I start the samsung player, see the samsung logo on the tv. Put in the DVD, it loads, says menu on the display of the player. The TV goes to no signal. Its like the player and the onkyo fail to handshake. If I switch inputs on the onkyo away from the blueray and back it sometimes re-handshakes fine (DVD and menu are displayed) and works, sometimes fails to handshake (no signal again).

Ideas? Im running older firmware, something 2.x.

My Samsung has never played custom made (burned) DVD's properly at all, ever since it was new, so I play them on my old DVD player. As for firmware, I would upgrade to version 3.1, improved my player a lot. Furthermore, I remember reading a year or 2 ago about a Samsung player incompatibility with Onkyo brand of TV using HDMI. I would still update the firmware.

Since my last post here I have found a post where there are freezing problems which never occurred with firmware v 3.0. Is there any one else having this problem with the new version 3.1.

its not major and like the film just freezes, its only when like fast forwarding and then hitting play real quick on occasion

Lately within the past month or so I've experienced Audio dropouts from the Dolby True HD tracks when playing Evangelion 1.11 & 2.22, and recently Transformers Dark of the Moon on the BDP-1500.

To alleviate this problem I went into System Menu to tweak the audio settings, no dropouts while playing in re-encoded DTS surround. To date I haven't had any dropouts with DTS HD tracks from my library.

Apologies if I'm beating a dead horse, don't know if anyone else experienced this issue. Trying to determine if it's the player as a result of the F/W update, the Insignia AV receiver or the discs authoring. Hoping it's a component issue.

Any insight/advice would be most welcome, thanks!

I have never had audio drop-outs with my BD P1500, even with the new firmware v 3.1. This could be an issue separate from the player. Nevertheless, when my player starts behaving strangely I unplug it for an hour, and it works fine afterwards.

I watched Transformers Dark of the Moon a couple weeks ago and I also have DolbyTrueHD drop outs ( around 2 hours and 14 min). None on 5.1 Dolby digital though. Finally I find someone with the same issue ; i have 3.1 firmware. Do you think it is the player?

Anyone else having trouble actually updating to the new firmware? I tried updating once through an ethernet connection and two other times via cd and both times it has come up with an error. The player itself doesn't necessarily need updating cause its working fine but its just nice to have it up to date.

My BD-P1500 updated very easily using the CD method. In that I did find an improvement in the player with version 3.1, it is worth persisting in doing the upgrade. A different CD burner, different computer to download, or maybe the USB method would work.
