Samsung S860 8.1 MegaPixal
Tripod mount for all pictures, zero zoom if at all possible, and then toying around with flash, no flash, close up focus, shutter speed, blah blah blah. Only thing that bugs me is I don't know how to get a pic of my setup with the plasma turned off, and not have a refection. My main HT gallery has an angle shot where you can see my stairs and weird globe lamp in the reflection. I may be playing with this tomorrow and re-doing all my pics, well, most of them. |

This thread may be old but I had to chime in since photography is a passion. I use a Nikon D40 and usually just the 18-55 kit lens for HT shots. If possible I'll use the tripod with remote.
Hopefully one day I'll be ready to step up to the D7000. |

I use a Canon EOS 7D with a tripod, remote and the 10-22mm wide angle lens. I have to use an external flash if I ever need a flash with that lens.

sweet, i love the 7D... do you crop out the vignetting on the 10-22? and an external flash is a must.. I keep a 580exII on most times and strongly recommend it as a flash.. though with that lens you might need a bracket as well lol

All of the photos in my galleries are taken with a Canon G10 or a small number with a Canon G9 (both cameras are on Kirk L brackets designed for the cameras). Everything is tripod mounted on one of my Gitzo Carbon Fiber Tripods and an electronic release.

Nikon D3100 w/ a 18-55m and 55-200m lens, tripod and trusty clicker.
I need a 12mm or some sort of wide-angle lens something awful.

I use a simple Canon PowerShot A710 point-and-shoot camera that I've had for close to 5 years now. I think it's time for an upgrade, but I'd like a DSLR this time.....
Is it a good idea to buy a used one, or is that not recommended for cameras?

Buying a used DSLR is not a big deal. Only concern is the number of shutter releases on the camera. Research what the expected number is for the camera you at looking at and compare how many is actually on it. See if you can take a coulple shots. Bring a laptop, download the pictures and see the quality. I helped a co-worker buy a used camera and this is what we did. If the seller is serious and honest, they will totally understand. One other thing. When looking at brands, see what kind your family and friends may have. This way, if they ae willing, you may be able to borrow lenses with them. Panasonic TC-P65VT30
