Hi ive been searching to buy this today but i'm unsure which to buy. There seems to be 2 different UK releases from 2006 & 2010 both directors cuts.
One has a whiteish cover(4 people on the front-2006) and the other blue(just orlando on the front2010). Ive searched on ebay and they both have 15 certificate on the covers so i'm assuming that confirms they are UK releases? Does anyone know more about these? are they different apart from the covers? Which do you recommend i buy? cheers Rich |

I have the 2010 release with the blue cover. Apart from a different (superior) cover I don't know what the difference is. It's the full 189 minute director's cut and the picture quality is excellent. Shame about Orlando Bloom though

The Italian edition has a commentary track and making of documentary:
http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Kingdo...Blu-ray/45390/ There was a lot of discussion as to whether the transfer was superior too, as it is MPEG-4 instead of MPEG-2. |

I think it's unlikely. The American disc doesn't. The only one I'm aware of with extras is the Italian edition. If you just want a good quality presentation of the film, any Fox release will be excellent. For extras, you'll have to buy the special edition DVD too.

Just loaded the disc to double check. The only extra is a trailer. Best thing to do is pick up a DVD copy cheap for the extras. I did that for Master and Commander. I keep the extras disc in the blu-ray box like it's part of the set.

I finally tried watching the Director's cut today of this film...and failed
I remember not being that impressed with the theatrical version a few years ago, but so many people have said that the DC is much better. The first hour or so was quite enjoyable, but once I got around halfway through it's 3 hour plus running time I started getting tired (bored?) and inevitably....nodded off! I only missed a few mins, but once I woke up again I gave it another 15-20 mins but just couldn't get back into it. I think I've given up on this movie now.
My Blu-ray wish list: Roman Holiday, Cinema Paradiso (Director's cut), Before Sunrise/Sunset, Punch-drunk love, Remains of the day, The Straight story, Wallace & Gromit: The curse of the were-rabbit, The Abyss, Anatomy of a murder, Team America: World Police, The Odd Couple, The Man who wasn't there, Gods and Monsters, Judgement at Nuremberg
