the medical pod scene has to be one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen I won't say more.

I can't believe some people think the 3D is mediocre. I have 55 3D blu-ray, and I thought the 3D in Prometheus was some of the best that I have ever seen. Crazy...

Trust me when I tell you that Madagascar 3 3D was much, much better.

And so was the movie.

Yeah I thought the 3D was awesome in IMAX. I haven't seen 3D look so crisp and so clear since Avatar. Maybe it's because I saw it in IMAX...

The screen was never too dark, and although it was never shooting things in my face, I felt like I was there. The depth and the textures and the spacing made everything feel so much more real.

I basically forgot I was watching a 3D movie. I was just there with them.
That's good for some of you, who want to feel as immersed as possible.
Bad for anyone who goes to 3D movies for 3D thrills.

OK now you're just trolling. Don't keep revisiting the thread just to take a dump on the movie itself.

Saw it in regular real D 3D at Cinemark and 3D was great also. I mostly forgot I was watching in 3D, except when I kept thinking, "Nice job with the 3D!"

Very likely a day one buy for me as well in 3D. I hope their are a ton of supplements(counting on you Ridley for awesome commentary!!!!)
The visuals and 3D, great combo here.
This should be out by September, Oct 2012 on blu 3D.

In regards to the movie itself though it's an absolute mess.
Compared to what for the 3D and the story? A mess in what way? I was able to follow it easily, no confusion. When I know what standard (your favorite movie in this genre) you're comparing it to, then your statement will have more strength. Otherwise, it's like someone saying "I hated this movie" and then never giving a reason why. Doesn't help anyone really.

I saw this on a Barco 3D DLP system (Cinemark XD screen) this afternoon and the darkness levels weren't as good as 'Underworld: Awakening' (seen on the same screen) but the 3D depth was pretty good - however the 7.1 mix was phenomenal - sadly the tech merits of the film superceded a pretty banal script.

I really don't know what some people are expecting from this movie. "Shakespeare in Space? For me, the dialogue and story was fine for this type of Sci Fi. After all, the original Alien was just a Horror/Sci-Fi B Movie not something by Ingmar Bergman.

Too many expectations can only lead to disappointment I guess.

I don't know what people were expecting either. I think because it wasn't a straight up horror film that had massive ties to the original Alien, some consider it bad.

On the other hand, compare this with the great sci-fi movies of the 80s... People hated Blade Runner too and crapped on it, and now it's considered one of the best. I think the same will happen with Prometheus. It had amazing visuals, a very interesting Sci-Fi story that kept me glued to the screen, amazing 3D and it left me pondering many things when I left the theater. I wish he (Ridley) had never mentioned this was in any way connected to Alien because I believe the reaction would be much more positive had it not.

Anyway, I majorly enjoyed it and considering the mediocre and banal sci fi and horror as of late, I was expecting to hate it.

But yes, the 3D immersed me into that world. Which to me, is the point of 3D. If I want to see talking animated animals chuck things at me, I guess I would like Madagascar 3 too.

So many people seem shocked by this scene and I can sorta/kinda understand why.
[Show spoiler] I mean...its a C-section involving an alien and thats certainly something I've never seen before but it didn't affect me nearly as bad as the chestburster scene in Alien. Maybe I've seen too many gory films to be phased by stuff like this but I thought it was rather mild. Her stomach goes up and down, she looks in pain, a machine puts a CGI cut across her stomach, lifeless alien is pulled out, tummy gets stapled, alien starts wiggling around, she gets out and thats it.
To me it sounds alot worse than it actually is portrayed on screen. Its an AWESOME scene no doubt just not the "HOLY CRAP!" moment I thought it was gonna be.

It didnt take long for scott to announce a directors cut is in the wings. I think we all are looking forward to this. I am sure some of the holes i saw in the cinema will be filled in ... lets hope for a straight blu release and not a cinema re-release

I'd go for it in the cinema again actually I want to see it again anyway, and if I could relive it like I did with the Avatar: Special Edition 3D rerelease, that would be awesome. I hope the extended cut is in 3D. Shouldn't be to hard to do it

Ya know what. Maybe i would see it at the flix again in an extended cut, but not in imax this time. I don't think the ridiculous booming volume helped with my original opinion .. still dont like the ending tho

I wasn't happy with the ending, but mainly because I didn't want the movie to end.

I think Imax, like THX cinemas, is more meticulous about matching the volume intended by the mixers. I regret not seeing this in Imax. The RealD experience was great too, but the sound at my local Cinemark was so low, the mix seemed pretty uninvolving. I saw MI3 just the week before at the same place and everything was fine, but at the showing for Prometheus I even had to walk out after the 3D trailers began to report a problem with the projector that the booth operator had caught after two trailers. That's commercial cinemas for you, at least they remembered to dial down the lights this time. But many commercial cinemas tend to dial back the volume to avoid complaints - many people will complain if it's too loud for them, regardless of how loud it's supposed to be; but few will complain if it's too low.

Movie was ok, wasn't great and it didn't suck. But the 3D was flat out bad in this movie. I would rank this top 5 worst 3D movies I have seen. My neice and I left the theater wondering where the 3d was. It just was that bad! I don't want to hear it's my eyes because I have seen most 3D movies out there and I know it's not my theater because I have seen other 3D movies in there and they were amazing.

What a huge let down. The audio track was awesome but just so upset the 3D was really awful..

And who ever said it was on par with AVATAR is smoking something, not even in the same ball park..

I thought the 3D was great. Did you sit in the 2D movie by accident? It's hard to believe some people were not impressed by the 3D.
