DVD DATABASE RECOVERY (Update)

The complete (or almost complete) DVD database should have been restored. We should also be able to restore at least a few thousand member collections and we are analyzing the crashed hard drive image and there seem to be at least partially intact information, so we are trying to see what we can restore.

You could check titles in the database now...

What happens if I've already fixed my collection on Blu-ray.com? Do you effectively merge my pre-crash collection list with my updated current?

I guess I'm asking if my collection titles are time-stamped when I enter them, so you won't overwrite my post-crash fixes.

The developers will have to confirm, but I believe you will be just fine.

Hope they're Restored eventually.

This is wonderful news Pro-B! Even if I have to just add the restored titles to my collection I'll be happy!

I wasn't looking forward to re-submitting and rescanning the DVD's I've entered, if I'm been perfectly honest.

The only party that deserves the credit are the developers. I don't, as I am not a specialist.

I am convinced that they will and are doing whatever is necessary to minimize the damage as much as possible. They have literally been working non-stop.

Have no doubts, Chip, the site will be much stronger than before.

Couldn't agree more. I'm sure everybody lost a few things, but regardless, the site will become better because of it. This type of things brings the community together to rebuild, reposting threads, submitting database entries, etc., just getting back to work.

From the developers:

To those wondering what will happen to titles that you've added to your collection AFTER the server crashed:

We will be using the update time of the titles in your collection to fix conflicting data (every movie in your collection has its own update time). Anything that was added/updated afterwards should not be removed or overwritten, only updates that are missing from your collection or were updated in the past before the crash, so we know that the restored version is newer.
