Thanks.
If you know anyone with an HD DVD PC drive it would be much cheaper to buy the theatrical cut of the HD DVD and then burn it to a BD-50. Someone did this for me with The Thing (1982) since the HD DVD transfer is superior to the BD transfer.

Where's the theatrical cut?

Same goes for

Zack Snyder's Dawn Of The Dead
Zack Snyder's Watchmen
Len Wiseman's Underworld
and many more.

Why no theatrical cut? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY????

I've owned and disowned this one a couple times because the director's cut is just awful. Why they couldn't have both cuts is beyond me.

I share your frustration.

If you want the Troy theatrical cut on Blu-Ray, pick up the Polish or Greek variants. As for Underworld, the Japan release contains the theatrical cut and is quite impressive.

I thought the theatrical cut was good. But the Directors Cut makes it better. I dont want to see the theatrical cut again.

Funny how a 'not-so-great' film can get it right ( You get Theatrical and Unrated cuts of Alien Vs. Predator in its sole release ) and these wonderful films ( Troy, Underworld, Watchmen, Dawn Of The Dead ) have no effing clue how to be released properly. They're just milking us for all we've got.

That's a matter of opinion.

Troy - Director's cut only for me. I'll never watch the theatrical anyways.
Underworld - Either cut and the film is still not going to be any good for me.
Watchmen - Director's cut only for me. I'll never watch the theatrical anyways.
Dawn Of The Dead - Director's cut only for me. I'll never watch the theatrical anyways.

But, I will admit that for the general public, having choice would be a better scenario.

+1. It is mainly just bits of dialogue and extended fight sequences anyway.

I prefer the director's cut on this one. I do however prefer the score on the theatrical version.

i love this movie...just a shame that the wonderful score from the theatrical version isnt on the extended version as the extended is the better movie.
For those of you wanting the theatrical version, in addition to the greek and polish versions mentioned here, its also avaliable in singapore and the czech republic, but the czech version is the only one i found online for sale and hence is the one i did purchase...The picture quality is a lot better in the extended cut as it was given a new master, the theatrical version looks like just a direct port over from the hd dvd release
