Default 4K Upscaling?

IM trying to decide between the Onkyo 609 and the 616. The main difference that I see is the 616 has 4K Upscaling where as the 609 does not. Is this something I should really consider. Ive read plenty of threads saying that 4K is the next step in resolution. Would this possible keep me from having to upgrade in the future?
Panasonic P55ST50, DirecTV HR34-700 HMC, PS3, Dell Studio Slim HTPC, Logitech Harmony-One
Marantz SR-5006 7.1ch AV Receiver, APC H15 Power Conditioner
2-Polk Monitor 50 Two-Way Speakers
2-Polk Monitor 30 Series-2 Speakers (Surrounds)
Polk CS1 Center, 2-Polk PSW10 Subwoofers.

609 from everything I've read also supports 4K upscaling.
In fact, other than more hdmi inputs and a couple new feature specs look very similar to each other.

I think I'm going to go with a 609, I just hope I feel an improvement over my 605.

I dont know how I missed that with all the researching I did. The 616 and the 609 look to be virtually the same, just less HDMI ports on the 609. I think for the $55 price difference I will be going with the 609.

The 616 also supports MHL. But also has a known power issue when trying to power on with the receiver remote. Me personally im interested in the 616 for the bedroom. Just waiting for amazon to lower it to $399 again. I missed it at this price a few days ago.

I am in for one 609. Can't pass up $238 shipped. I'll end up selling my 605, so it won't be too bad on my budget for an upgrade.

4K receiver is no good without a 4K screen or TV and a 4K blu-ray.
From what I read you will not really see the advantages of 4K unless you are using a large screen projector.
It's just another way for them to sell you new technology that you don't need so they can make more money. Look at 3D!
Amplification - Arcam AVR600. Arcam P38 (for bi-amp)
Speakers - Monitor Audio GX300, GXC150, GXFX
Audio Cables - AudioQuest Rocket 33, Star Quad Type 4, Diamondback, Sub-1.
Video Cable - AudioQuest Carbon (HDMI)
Display - Panasonic TC-P65VT25
Source - Panasonic DMP-BDT350, PS3 Slim
Power - Panamax M5400-PM
