That's been my June 2012 BD haul so far.

Had Father's Day brunch with the women of the house today. I will be hitting the road in a another hour or two.

I've been toying with the idea of replacing my beloved Denon DVD-3930CI with a Denon DBP-4010UDCI. I can get it on the cheap and I mean very cheap in relation to the MSRP, with full warranty. But for all intents and purposes, if I really assess the the purchase, it would be a lateral move at best. The benefit to buying it is the fact that it would be a all in one solution. But, I would not hear or see an improvement in performance. In terms of the audio, the 4010 is basically a newer 3930CI. Same DAC's and implementation. As far as video, other than the blu-ray capability, standard DVD performance is a virtual tie. HQV Realta T2 vs ABT-2010 video processor. Same difference! And in regards to blu-ray playback, can't say that there would be any improvement over the Sony S5000ES.

So, like Wabo and Eric (ManU) said, at best it's a lateral move, so save the money! Or if I'm going to spend money on another device, get the Oppo BDP-95 or the Uber Denon A1 My wife would kill my a$$!

On the speaker front, I'm currently wrestling with two options.

1) A pair of RF-63's, possible available for $1000!
2) A Vienna Acoustic Mozart Grand 7.0 Package consisting of: 2 Mozart Grand towers; Maestro Center; 2 Hayden bookshelves and 2 Waltz Grands.
All for $2898+shipping. That's the deal! But here's the hang up. The Waltz's and the Haydens are from one seller, the Mozarts are from another and the Maestro is from another seller.

So, here's my choices:
A) Stick with what I have (RF-35's) and make the most of it with little mods such as installing outriggers and panels (the panels are going to happen regardless).

B) Stay with the Klipsch flow but improve on it by replacing the 35's with the 63's.

or

C) Say F#&K it and completely sell out and buy the Vienna Package and hope for the best!

What do you think?
Hey bud. Those are some tough choices. I would probably go with the better Klipsch speakers. That may be my route as well. I may go with the newer rtia series to replace my old rti system.
Dedicated 3-D HT Set-up: Panasonic 65" ST30, Onkyo TX-NR709, Oppo 93, Emotiva XPA-2 and XPA-5, Direct TV HD DVR, Panamax M5300-PM, Sony Playstation 3 Slim, Harmony ONE, Apple TV, Polk Audio CSi5, RTi10's, FXi3's, RTi4's, SVS PB12-Plus, Auralex Great Gramma.

Landry, your response was way too wordy! You need to trim it down some!

I'm just playin around. But seriously, the RF-63's do seem like the smart move especially when I consider the outlay of cash. The VA package is quite attractive, but it's a mixed bag. Coming from different owners makes the purchase an unknown. Different owners means different care and environment for each speaker. There is a huge positive in that all of the speakers in the package are of the cherry finish.

Now I have to hope that the RF-63's are still available. Last time I spoke with the retailer, he said he's had several inquiries about the speakers. My offer is on the low end. He could easily get a higher bidder. We'll see tomorrow.

What's up Frey.

You're catching me while I'm at a rest stop outside of Johnson City, NY. I'm headed to Syracuse.

As far as the choice of 2D over 3D, my current 1080P plasma is exactly that....1080P! No 3D! I know.... heresy!

It's not that 3D is not in my future, because it is. I also have Cars 2, Immortals, Legends of the Guardians, The Last AirBender and Chronicles of Narnia: TVotDT.

Now, there's a reason why I have these particular titles in 3D. It's the money. Being that I do not have a 3D BD player or TV, the only reason why I would have these titles is because of the price that they were purchased for. All under $20.00. Of course, coupons and rebates where involved, but the bottomline, less than or equal to what the 2D was priced at. It's a no-brainer, get the 3D! That's occurred 5 times thus far.

When I finally convert to 3D viewing, I will have some titles at my disposal so I can enjoy the technology in an immediate fashion. That's if you call adopting the technology 2 years after it's inception, "Immediate"!

I'm a man of few words.
I'm a real stickler when it comes to things that are proven and tested. I am a diehard Polk Audio fan. I have heard and like the sound of several other brands of speakers, but the Polk reference theater speakers do it for me. I stick with what works. I think that you are well versed in Klipsch speakers, so that would be a great step for you. It all makes sense as far as money and upgrades go. The VA speakers are spectacular, but I would buy a set of RT polks without a second thought. Sometimes change can be good though, but if I were in your shoes, I would go for the Klipsch.
Have you ever considered the Oppo 93 over the 95?

OK, I didn't realize you don't have 3D capabilities yet... I saw you had purchased John Carter 3D, so I just assumed you already had it... But still, if I had plans for 3D within any imminent future, I'd still be purchasing the 3D versions if available just so I don't have to re-buy the 3D version later...
