Problem with Tara is she is predictable.
[Show spoiler]She'll be angry for being made a vampire, she'll fight with Sookie, she'll then take off to go sulk somewhere.
It is all she ever does.

The show needs a refresh on all fronts. Enough with Terry and Arlene, enough with Andy, enough with Sam. Their stories are not interesting and don't deserve to be taking up time. And I agree Hoyt's story is done, though he was great when he was relevant.

I enjoyed bits of the premiere, but, did anyone really want time in the premiere devoted to Andy's butt?

tell me again why this is a show on premium cable because i can't see the difference anymore for this show with nudity gone and such why sould people pay for this show if it isn't offering the things premium cable shows is supposed to offer to the customers

Unfair and kind of silly. Game of Thrones doesn't have nudity in EVERY episode either, does it? True Blood has some every once and a great while, if it serves a dramatic purpose. I'd rather they keep that in reserve.

Mostly I just want someone in charge of the story (or stories, seeing as the show has suffered through multiple story lines for awhile now) who can look at all the dramatic items that are at stake, and then decide that there really isn't time to waste on Deputy Andy's love life, or the tired cliche of "something that happened during the war is coming back to haunt the members of the platoon", etc.

It is like the show runner is determined to pad out the episodes with as much filler as possible.

If you hated vampires wouldn't you be pissed off that you were turned, even if it was so you wouldn't die? Sounds completely reasonable to me.

Sounds like your biggest concern regarding the show is lack of female nudity in the first 2 eps this season. Sorry to laugh, but really? To be fair, you did also say the stories aren't good at all anymore. I don't know, I think they're mostly fine. The stuff with Bill and Eric now is sort of what they've been leading up to for the past season or so. I agree with others that they could stand to thin the herd a bit. Arlene and Terry should go back to being background characters except for maybe a couple quick lines during the season. Unless they're gonna actually do something with Andy, same for him. Hoyt doesn't bother me cause at least he is still connected with the Jessica & Jason fiasco. Plus the whole 2 mins or so of air time he may get doesn't bother me. I was glad for it last night cause I thought the scene with his mom yelling and then thanking Jason was funny. Alot of times the funny bits in the show come from the minor characters in their brief on screen time. Tara, I wish (at least as of now, yet) they had left dead. They made her character really boring awhile ago IMO. I was tired of her when she was gone living with that girl, when she was sort of prisoner of that vampire, etc. She was better served as a background character and someone for Sookie to talk to.

Most definitely.

My biggest gripe about last night was during the bit with the Authority and omg will Bill get staked? Umm yeah, I think we know he won't. It's kind of pointless and silly to threaten the lives of main characters on shows usually. They should know the audience isn't really gonna believe that they might kill Sookie, Bill or Eric anytime soon, if at all. So, no point in trying to make us think it might happen. It's one thing to have someone say, if you keep this up you may regret your actions, blah blah blah. But not the whole ohhh I'm gonna stake you. Oh I so want to stake you. Please, go sit down and relax cause you're not gonna do anything. Now if it was Pam, (now) Tara, even Jessica, ok I could believe they may actually kill them.

Overall, another good ep I thought. Hopefully the Terry storyline doesn't last more then another 4 eps. I'm being realistic or maybe optimistic, cause I can't see them wrapping it up in 1-2.

20 minutes in and now the child and grandma have a story

Anyone else think some of the dialogue is cheesy as hell this year.

I've been watching season 4 on Blu and find it a lot of fun, like all the other seasons, don't know what every one was expecting/complaining about.

More focus on the main characters maybe? I mean I get distracted too, but not that much

I think it works a lot better watching it back to back on Blu-Ray than it does weekly, like most shows.

Thats what I did on HBOGo when season 1&2 sucked me in. And then mid season 3 I started skipping scenes, season4 got worse.

LOL on this season though the fixing the sink FYOU was hilarious

I always thought that True Blood Books were the original when it came to one woman with two vampire love interests but the first one was The Vampire Diaries. Elena on that show stupidity makes Sookie look like a genius. In the one episode she gets drained of blood and then proceeds to take shots of alcohol and paint in a room with the windows closed.

I think people who judge True Blood to seriously are pretty crazy. If you take the show not serious it is awesome.

Spoilers

Anyone else think in Tara would never speak again but be a primal vamp?
"All right. So, listen. Why don't you give me a call when you want to start taking things a little more seriously? Here's my card."

I have an Alice in Wonderland (Cartoon) Blu Ray Disney Movie Rewards code for trade PM me if interested.

There's enough trash talk about True Blood in this thread, let's not start with Vampire Diaries also. But speaking of taking shows too seriously... your comment about Elena. It's a show, it's fake, dumb things happen. Who gives a shit?

So is every other show on tv I mean I guess its an easy cop-out to cover a show "its fake viewers are dumb for wanting more from it"

I don't know about anyone else, but I hadn't even seen the show since 5 months ago, so that should show how much I care. I'd just like to see shows stay on a somewhat relvant track too the seasons that made the show worth tuning in for.

lol then why do the writers take it seriously? If the show wasn't meant to be taken seriously, or as a comedy it should be marketed as such, yes?

I also don't see anyone “judging” it as a nerd fan, like you might think of a star wars/ star trek fan (not a dig just an easy example ), people (at least me ) are simply pointing out things that would ruin any tv show, serious or comical.

I think I get what True Blood is doing by having twenty or so stories going on at once!

They are trying to recreate the feeling of changing channels every 2 minutes.

Had your 2 minutes of Sookie? The "channel will change" to 2 minutes of Bill & Eric. 2 minutes later, the "channel will change" to 2 minutes of Deputy Andy and Jason. Etc.

Either that, or Alan Ball had attention deficit disorder.

Ok, so, about last night's episode, why was the Authority so concerned with making sure that Bill and Eric aren't religious fanatics, and then the first thing the Authority does when we meet them in their cellar is some religious fanatic ritual with drops of Lilith's blood? (Actually it wasn't Lilith's blood it was the guy from Law & Order, but they pretended it was Lilith's).

Side note:

The older actress who played the mother of the fallen wolf-pack leader: I cannot watch her without thinking of her role as a "Daytime Hooker" on My Name is Earl. Too funny. Too lasting an impression to easily get rid of.

Trying to describe it to friends, I've already called it a 'Supernatural Sleazy Adult Soap Opera'. 'Adult' thrown in there just to get the point across it's not for the kiddos.

I can't wait for Russell to get back to his old self again.

Obviously.... People take a lot of shows way too seriously and a majority of things that happen on any show couldn't happen so why let little things bother you? I'm only saying it's fake, dumb things happen, who cares because of the fact that people do take it a little too serious sometimes.

I'm not really sure what you're getting at with the last part though as I'm not saying that at all.

It wasn't a "religious fanatic ritual", unless you think all religious rituals are by definition religious fanatic rituals. The Authority doesn't have a problem with the doctrine that Lilith was the original mother of all vampires and pre-dated humans. Their problem with the Sanguinistas (their name for the extremists) isn't that they (the Sanguinistas) believe in the doctrine concerning Lilith, but that they believe that humans were intended by God to be food for the vampires.

Think of it as similar (though not quite analogous) to the Catholic Church's view of Protestantism in the Middle Ages as heretical, while continuing to believe in Christianity.
