BTW, while this might be "legal" it sure doesn't look right. When Iniesta got the ball from Fabregas he was onside. Navas however was in an offside position but since he wasn't part of the play there was no call at that moment. However when Iniesta moved forward he immediately passed the ball to Navas who suddenly became an "eligible receiver" who was just deemed to be in a passive offside position.

If it were up to me, Navas was offside when he got the ball from Iniesta.

I've always had an issue with this rule. I know it's to not slow down the play or negate an opportunity to the intended receiver, but IMO...offside is offside no matter who receives the ball.

Nothing much has happened in the first half of both matches.

It's called positional offside , and when Iniesta passes the ball Navas comes from behind ( he slowed down is pace just a little bit ) i saw the replay several times and it's a goal .

It's called goalhanging. Basically a player is positioned behind the last defender and waiting for a teammate to run past him and passes the ball backwards for an easy strike.

Ukraine had two great chances on goal in the second half, header on the corner kick and the one that crossed the line, shouldn't have been allowed in the first place...both were offsides! Another display of poor officiating this time by the linesman.

We lost mexes due to two yellow cards so our defense was already not super strong but now it's going to get eaten alive.

Having said that, France was the last team to knockout Spain in a major tournament back in 2006. Both teams have changed quite a bit though.

The Goal Hanging we use to say that when we were playing in the streets where there aren't offsides

So what is everyone thoughts for the next round?

Does anyone see anyone but Germany, Portugal, Spain, and Italy advancing?

I'd like to think France could beat Spain.

England has a chance as well.

I can see England winning against Italy. I highly doubt France will beat Spain, especially with Frances back four being a little questionable right now.

I do think Germany and Portugal will win their matches, but you never know.

I think Spain is safe for this round... but I do not expect them to win this year without Villa.

Villa is not there but as long they have Iniesta ( he scored the winning goal on the 2010 world cup ) they have the same chances . France has a problem in the room ( too many egos as i read in the news ) but for sure Benzema will take advantage of having Sergio Ramos in D .
