Wait . . . what?

You will give the people of Earth an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you. They will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders.

almost every film composer has a recognizable style. you can always immediately tell if its Williams, Elfman or Morricone etc.
I'm going to disagree that the dark knight does NOT have that same sound like on Sherlock Holmes and I just saw the second one last week, and TNT starting to rotate the first one...that theme has a completely different tone, but some of the other sounds, parts from the score, do have a familiar ring...
Regardless of my opinion, I certainly hope Hans does a very good job with creating a theme of some type...he's one of my favorite composers! The Lion King score is amazing! The Last Samurai is one of my favorites, and who can't forget Gladiator and the current Batman series? hell, even the Pearl Harbor score sounded very cool!!

Interesting. So this is going to be a brand new take on the character. That sounds very exciting.

Also, no. The Superman theme for the movie was classic John Williams instrumental. Williams has a style that is deeply obvious in most of his work and his Superman theme is no different. That Superman theme sounds like it's right at home next to things like Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Jurassic Park. And the animates series theme? NOTHING like a John Williams piece. The instrumentation is way off and the melody is far more complex than William's simplistic style that has become so iconic.

The symbol of Superman, including the theme, have become one and the same. They are inextricably linked. You can deny it all you want, but it's the truth and you're completely wrong in this matter.
CONFIRMED: "Save Me" by Remy Zero to be used prominently in the Man of Steel.

/discussion over.
It's a documentary about THE 1978 FILM, from that era no less, EXACTLY the time when that music is appropriate!

If they were doing a documentary specifically about the George Reeves stuff, they'd never use that music. If they were doing a documentary about any of the animated stuff from the old Fleischer to the newest Superman Vs. the Elites, they'd never use that music. If they were doing a documentary about Lois & Clark or the Superboy series, they'd never use that music. I wouldn't even expect to see them use that music in a documentary about Smallville... in that case, I'd expect them to use "Save Me", you know, the song which is exclusively tied with that incarnation of the character.

ps lol I just looked at a Fleischer cartoon and it ALSO has music which fits the syllables of "Su-per-man". Funny. It seems even more obvious than the Williams or 90s animated themes too.
I need to stop buying so many movies and not getting around to watching them.

It seems like people are bickering back and forth but over-looking the obvious: no one is denying the power of Williams' score. We're simply saying that it won't be used in the new film. I'm not even saying that that is my personal preference, it's just obvious. It isn't going to happen, so I see no point in getting my hopes up. I've accepted it and look forward to what original music they do come up with.

I've always thought that JW's Superman score sounded really dated compared to Star Wars and Indy
If you're reading this, you can read.

Now all that being said... I am not against Hans doing the score. I just don't think he should replace what already works. It's one thing to create music for a new movie however to create new music on an iconic character. That is something else.

I do realize he did it for Batman, however grab 5 random people on the street to hum the original Batman song and then do the same with Superman... I know which one they will know.
Totally agree! that's what i meant also in my post up there!

You can geek out plenty of reasons why that Williams theme is associated with the Reeves movies and it's true they totally are. But what that theme has done in mainstream public is make it all about Superman. And i'm pretty sure the main reasons those animated features and shows didn't use it was because of that hefty price tag that theme holds.

You can hammer it all you want into someones brain that whatever they're blowing their noses in are actually PUFFS. they still call them KLEENEX! It's just instant brand recognition.

With that said i am pretty damn sure it WON'T be used and i suppose i'm okay with it. I know they're going for a whole different thing.

There was a rumour that Man of Steel teaser will be attached to TDKR. They are announcing the composer just now, so the teaser will be without music??

Teasers often use stock music or songs.
