Disney does actually do re-releases just mainly not with their diamond/platinum release. Besides that, Pixar movies are usually available always, but Disney likes to put things OOP a year or two before a re-release so there's a higher demand. Its almost definite that Disney will re-release it w/ the prequel, most likely in 3D.

Is there anyone who honestly thinks the Blu won't be reissued right before the prequel comes out? Disney/Pixar would be tossing away a ton of money if they didn't.

Yeah Pixar movies only went into the vault whenever A. They were new (Back in the early '00s) and B. A new release was to come out soon

Again, I think the 3D re-release in January is a very good indicator as to when the home video release will be in production again. Likely there will be a Blu-ray re-issue along with the 3D Blu-ray release shortly after Monsters, Inc. hits theaters again.

I've been trying to pick this up for my kids, but it is hard to come by and expensive.

With Monsters University coming, wondering if there is any possible chance of Disney Pixar re-releasing this with or without Movie Cash, maybe?

Or should I just keep dreaming....

It is going to be re-released in 3D in Janary, so I imagine a 3D blu release will follow.

Theatrical 3D rerelease is scheduled for January 2013.

Thanks, I hadn't heard that - although I guess it is not shocking considering the re-release of Nemo in 3D, etc. Guess I might as well wait to pick this up once the likely 3D BD release is available.

but why is the current Monsters Inc. Blu-ray so hard to find now?...has it been discontinued until the 3D Blu-ray re-release?...no other Pixar Blu-ray is this hard to find...sounds like they pulled a Harry Potter and stopped production until the newer version comes out
