Update from Mondo Macabro:

Quote:
...One important aspect of this release to note is that it will be the ONLY version to be have a licensed English language option. There may be other DVDs of this film out there in the world, but this will be the only one us monolingual Americans will be able to understand.

All the attendant extra features have not yet been confirmed but one we can announce is a all-new filmed interview with actor Robert Woods, who stars in COUNTESS and a handful of other Franco films from the early-mid '70s as well as many , many spaghetti westerns. MM co-honcho Pete Tombs says that "Mr Woods was in good form and there are some fun stories about working with Franco, with whom he spent almost a year." Should be good stuff...
They also appear to confirm that it will have a French option with English subtitles. You can read the rest here (NSFW).
"You might very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment."

With Jean Rollin BD's popping up I've been hoping for some Franco on Blu.

Not sure if it's common knowledge or not but Lina Romay died a few months back. She left quite an impression with her performance in Female Vampire.

Channel4 used to show a great selection with their Monda Macabro Seasons but I guess that was years ago?

Countess Perverse would be a great name for a supervillain.

+1, I would love to see more Franco in high definition. It's a shame Mondo Macabro isn't releasing any of their catalog in high definition yet. Although films like Lorna the Exorcist might not have been preserved well enough to gleem in hd from the DVDTalk review of Countess Perverse it sounds like the picture quality is such it could sustain a high def bump.

Hey Pro, just a heads up:

Quote:
Video
Video codec: MPEG-2
Encoding format: 4:3
Video resolution: 480i (NTSC)
Aspect ratio: 1.33:1
Original aspect ratio: 1.85:1

Audio
French: Dolby Digital 2.0

Subtitles
English

Discs
DVD-5
Single disc (1 DVD)

Playback
Region (A, B, C untested)
The video resolution is actually 480p (progressive flag), it's Dolby Digital 1.0 Mono, and it's a DVD-9

Also, the original aspect ratio is 1.33:1, which is retained in this presentation.
