Default GOT Problems anew with S570

Well, it is not a cleaning issue. Had problems again and had to turn off the player and reload before it would work (disc 3 only so far). I understand 580 owners are having the same problem.

If you're talking about the Sony BP570, I've never heard of any third-party kit to do so.
loose="not tight", lose="can't find it, doesn't have anymore" or the opposite of "win".
their="belongs to", there="place", they're="they are", there's = "there is"
it's="it is", for everything else use "its"
then="after", than="compared with"
"a lot" not "alot"

I'm thinking of buying a Blu-ray player but have trouble deciding on which one is the best. I'm guessing most of you in this forum own one. Which do you think I should get. Preferably a Sony player and I'm not really interested in 3D. Should I get a Sony BDP-S570 or an S580. The reviews are positive. There's a lot of this Sony S series players and I don't know which one to get.

I'm not interested in 3D but, I still have and use the BDP-S570, which is 3D capable

It's in my daughters playroom so I just play the DVD version instead. Maybe a new player for them in the future.
Mine started doing the same thing a while ago Very loud nose on spinning, not all the time though, but often. I ended up putting it in the kids room and picked up a Panny 210 for my main use. Shame, I loved the S570. It was a fantastic player. The Panny is great though, but the interface is not half as sexy as the Sony was.

Will I need a 3D TV if I buy a Blu-ray Player that has 3D capability but will only be used to watch 2D Blu-rays?

No. A 3D capable BD player will play 2D Blu-rays on a 2D TV just fine.

I'm also having playback issues with my 570.
I have never had any issues, until today with Game Of Thrones disc 3.
It completely locks the player up. I have also tried disc 4 with similar results.

Strange issue. I was almost ready to replace the player until I tried other discs and they appear to be fine.

Note...I'm sure there were other posts prior to some of the data loss.

Anyways I was going to say that the third and fourth discs were eventually playable.

I think it's a combination of these discs and some slight fingerprints and/or dust on discs. After a thorough cleaning of discs I didn't have any other problems on the 570. I also haven't had any other playback issues with other discs. Very strange issue.

Can anyone comment how well this player handles 3D movies?

I think I'm on the verge of making the change to 3D and was wondering how this thing performs.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Just checked out your pics and my question is is why would you want to go 3D when your tv is beautiful. But to your question yes the S570 plays 3D just fine.

I saw your comment on my gallery--thanks much!

It's funny you say that about my TV. After only 3.5 years the LCD Panel on it died and I don't any TV right now. Fortunately I purchased the 4 year warranty from Amazon and it's looks like the warranty company is going to buy me out with a reimbursement of the original cost. They sent a third-party repairman here yesterday and he confirmed it's the panel and had to take the TV with him. It's still up in the air, though, at this point.

I have a whole thread on it here:
http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=199228

It's looking like I'll be going with a Panasonic plasma at this point.

Thanks for the info on the 570 too! Much appreciated!

First your welcome and second I am sorry, didnt know about your tv's panel going out on you and that sucks big time. Go with the Panny you will like it I am sure. Panasonic makes excellent Plasma's and if I were to go that route it would be Panny all the way.

Dont know why people are having problems with the Game Of Thrones Blu's. My player plays everything I have thrown at it. Could it be the disc itself?

Finally like HDDVD? Um...........Blu ray is not like HDDVD and never has been and second is the format complete? I'm lost on that one........and lastly yes its been a year since the last update for the S570 and it looks unlikely there will be another one anytime soon because the player itself dont have any problems that needs to be fixed or upgraded. Would be nice to have the Vudu app but oh well.
